Toiletries

I don’t think that I’m too far off base to say that it’s ok to be particular about where one chooses to use the facilities right? At work I know that I shouldn’t worry too much because every evening there is a crew that comes in and cleans the building from 6pm until 2am. Going “one” isn’t really a problem because I’m a guy and I can literally go anywhere and not touch anything. For “two” I’m a bit paranoid. There is a bathroom that is half way across the building that’s connected to the guest green room and make up area. This is a pretty low traffic area and where I chooses to go should the need becomes apparent. With this back story I feel the need to discuss the simple joys of a business toilet. I asked Jules about this and she’s never encountered this but I take great joy in my private time when I find that someone has left a magazine or newspaper in the stall. I’m not sure if it’s the joy of having the fruit and nuts out and unconfined that makes guys spend so much time on the head but it is comfortable. Reading while your body works is nice because it breaks up a rather mundane and necessary task. Where there is a periodical available it’s usually a newspaper or broadcasting magazine, sometimes it’s a home style magazine which no straight man should be reading but that’s part of my business and makes me consider doing my business in another location. So I pose this to the rest of this board, ladies do you ever come across magazines in b-room stalls? Guys, what do you happen across. I sometimes wonder why there are not more risqué items in the stalls considering all the crackpots in the building. I guess it’s better to not find more typical “male” mags while inspecting the facilities, I mean how much time do you need to spend “reading”.

NO. Can't say I've ever stumbled on any reading material.. sometimes at school they'll have the activities listed on the back of the stall door. "OOh, a hypnotist is coming on the 24th)" And I will also admit to cleaning out my "purse" while on the Jane!

i, for one, am not a bathroom reader. maybe it's because i've had to train my body to go quickly because i have children. maybe it's because if i'm in a bathroom that's not MY bathroom, there tends to be odd smells that i know i didn't cause to be there. so my objective is to get in, get done, and get out. once again, kudos hubby for starting a post with such an "enlightening" subject

I have been reading the Iliad at home in the bathroom. I usually keep something to read in different rooms and pick it up if I want to read something. For now, I mostly do my reading while seated in the facilities. BTW, I am at the part right now where Diomed kicks some Grecian azz!

in most cases, it takes me about 2 minutes to do my business, but at home ill stay in there for maybe 10 minutes. I actually go to the toilet everynight before bed to read the Bible. I know it sounds horrible, but it is my time, i am away from the tv, computer, radio and eveyone else. It is the perfect time to read Gods word.

It's true...I sometimes feel bad about praying on the toilet, but I figure it's ok since I'm concentrating anyway. I think I pray just about everytime I go to the bathroom, especially at work.

I read on the home toilet all the time. I'll spend ten minutes looking for something to read for a 5 minute sit. Usually it is magazines I read. They are the perfect toilet read.

At work no one leaves any reading material, sadly. At a Borders the other day there was a gay porn mag in the toilet. Gross.

I also pray at the work urinals. I used to feel bad about it, but its a great time to get a little prayer in.

Nope, I've never seen reading material in girl stalls either. Although the other day, when we brought Luke to the pediatrician, I was puzzled to find some purple aquarium gravel on the floor in front of the toilet. I generally will not "sit and think" in public unless it's an emergency. I was really bad about that when I was a teenager. I went to summer camp at Harding one year and didn't go for a whole week because of the dorm setup. Probably not too healthy.

that's funny that you say that rachel. when i went to hillbrook christian camp in karns one summer, i did the same thing!!! i'm sure it's not very healthy as well..

I have never found any reading material in stalls. I do read while on the crapper, though. Could be a comic book, or Wizard (mag about comics), or whatever else I might be reading. I have Essential Amazing Spider-Man Vol. 5 in the guest bathroom, which I use as often as our own.

On a related note, I am very paranoid when using the bathroom. Whether it's a stall or someone's home, I ALWAYS put toilet paper on the seat if I have to sit. Anyone else do this, or is it just me?

i do that for public, but not in friends homes or people I know. Paranod guy lives!

Yes, I TP public seats, too. I don't know how much good it really does, but it makes me feel better!

I only tp the seats if the bathroom is not so clean. I figure my bum has seen enough somewhat dirty surfaces to survive a decent room.

Like others when I was young I refused to go anywhere public. I went through 12 years of school without once sitting on a pot.

I didn't go at summer camp for a week, too. After that, I learned to just let it go, man. I got really sick that week...oy!
