Mullins get the mind thinking...

A few weeks back, Mullins linked us to come conspiracy links that a plane never hit the pentagon. Sitting here at work, I decided to google this and learn more. Of course the first results convinced me of this as well! I had convinced myself that no plane hit the pentagon!

Okay, I researched further, and found some interesting links that debunk this conspiracy theory (even though it was a very cool one to beleive!)

Click Here TO read a short CNN report and to see actual pentagon security camera footage of a plane hitting the pentagon at low altitude...

Click Here To read an urban legend site debunk this story to a convincing degree...

But the most convincing one is this site that shows actual wreckage inside the pentagon... Click Here

But honestly, who cares... Just thought I'd make us all smarter...

I don't put much stock in the whole conspiracy thing anyway. Some things are obvious between the media and govt as far as back-scratching goes. But, conspiracy theories generally have other explanations. I look at most of them the same way I look at ghosts and aliens. Fun to think about, but I don't believe them. They seem to come from outlets that just want to make the current administration (whichever admin that might be at the time) look bad. Thanks for the debunkers, Jamison.

Your Rense.com link stated and showed that a plane DID hit the Pentagon. I think the link I sent was saying that something hit the Pentagon but it wasn't a Boeing 757, it was something smaller with a more potent payload and this is why the lawn stayed somewhat unscathed. You can't deny that something hit the building I guess the conspiracy is what type of plane it actually could have been and was it "sent" by terrorists or someone else?
One thing is certain despite "W" being in office during these events I don't trust the folks running this show and knowing that "W" was in office makes me trust it even less.

Pray tell, what on earth would any government official be hiding in regaurds to the Sept 11th attachs that we as the public MUST know.

Reguardless of the type of plane, it WAS an attack... i suppose you are imagining Bush giggling in his closet with an Atari 2600 joystick controlling these planes or something?

I am one of these guys who thinks that our government has secrets... and I dont care! Area 51 was a secret. They had top secret planes they didnt want the enemy to know about. And all these stupid white trash people are saying "We as americans have the RIGHT to knwo what goes on there..."... HUH? No you dont!!! There ARE things the govt wishes to keep secret... i am sure some of them know more about sept 11 than I do, and thats fine, thats why they are in office and I am not. They know what to do with that info, and blabbing it to the american public is probably not the number one thing to do.

Some people hate the fact that the military and the government must keep information from the public. Maybe you and I could handle it, but perhaps the majority could not...

I like Bush as a dude and all, but he hasnt fixed social security and hasnt started drilling in Alaska, which is the only thing I am mad about....

It's true that the govt has big secrets. There are MANY things that people in intel fields have to keep secret for their entire lives. It all comes down to 1. Do you have the clearance and 2. Do you have the NEED to know. You wouldn't care about most of the stuff, anyway, but our enemies know how to use it against us and would. So, we can't let anyone know. There is an illusion that theorists want people to believe so they can sell a product. Don't buy it, man.

Sipper, how long do you have to be out of the militry before you can tell us all that top secret stuff you knew?

I just got my official discharge papers from the Air Force Reserve yesterday, so I am completely out. However, I am sworn to keep all information under my protection classified and can neither confirm or deny information, even after it is declassified. Any declassed info can be requested under the Freedom of Information Act (FOI) by any American (U.S.) citizen. I think I turned Mullins that direction when he asked about finding info about his Dad's war duty in Viet Nam. But, national security is important and I am bound to keep the information in my possession, classified.

I also gotta tell you guys that there are things I know that I don’t need to know about as far as national security and such and frankly that’s fine with me. I think as an individual I could deal with various secrets but a collective society doesn’t process information the same way. I am in awe of the military and if I ever decide to really regret anything I think it will be my decision to stay out of service. God has dealt me my hand and I thank him for that, so ultimately no regrets. Here is the thing, the government and military are two different entities. The military is an extension of the government and they march based on its dictation. Those dudes in the government are the ones I don’t trust. I hate being the real paranoid guy but I have no confidence in their abilities to do what’s best for this country over their own personal agenda. I don’t know what those agendas are but the tome of rhetoric from the campaign trail hasn’t created much of a resonating echo throughout the term thus far. I don’t trust my government plain and simple. I think democracy is wonderful but I don’t think it’s what’s practiced anymore.

It's only the new yorker so it can't be that reputable right. I just don't trust those guys...

Yeah, I feel you, Mullins. Politicians really do work on checks and balances, though. I honetly believe that there are good and pure motives behind some of the moves they make, too. But, as with anything else in this crazy, good/bad/ugly world of ours, there are genuinely bad people in the govt and genuinely good people, too. It's just as much of a mix as anything else, I believe. I do have to add one caveat, though. Absolute power corrupts, absolutely. It is a true saying. Thus, politicians probably become more corrupt the more power they get. Yet, they don't have absolute power, so one could hold out hope that there is good there. From my standpoint, I don't know any of them on any level except from what I read or hear on the radio. So, I don't really think about polis too much. To me, they're a necessary part of our govt, good or bad. They just sort of "are". Know what I mean? Anyway, I don't let polis worry me too much. Anyway you look at it, they do have limited power and a balance is therefore kept.

I didn't read the links Mullins sent simply because my online time has been way down of late. But from this discussion I've think I've read similar stuff. Like that Bush knew 9/11 was going down and did nothing so he could bomb sadaam and get oil money. I don't like Bush much at all, but I can't see him doing that.

I'm not the type that really buys into the big freaky conspiracies, nor do I care too much about secrets such as Area 51. But I do believe that the government does some nasy shite. I'd say if the crap they do ever came to light most Americans would be in arms. Everything I've ever read about big govement scares the crap out of me. Not a one of them has our best interests in mind, or are anywhere near a position to have a clue as to what our best interests even are.
