Bash Bushing

I like Bush, so don't think I am jumping on the bush bashing band-wagon that is so poular these days...

But it is ABOUT TIME that he, or any recent president for that matter, does this:

Click it

Back in WW2, America was asked to do this, and we participated happily! Now we are such a nation of 'give-me-alot-and-give-it-to-me-now' people that I am sure people will call Bush the devil if he suggest we carpool, or turn our AC up a few degrees. People have watched the price of gas go up over the past years and have idiotically went ahead and bought Hummers and other SUVs thinking that oil is infinite.... well, it ISNT!

Again, before I go on... I LIKE BUSH.

However, I am not a zombie, and there are some things about him that has pissed me off (pardon the language, but ive about had it). You Bush bashers may disagree with me on some of these, but this is what I want to see done.

1) AS PROMISED BY BUSH, I want social security reform. He has promised it and promised it, and nothing has happened. Albeit, many democrats call it unethical and use scare tactics to frighten old people, but I still think Bush needs to get this taken care of,despite the others whining. If not, other older folks in the future who actually think they can live off of SS will have NOTHING.

2) Borders/illegal immigrants. Used to in America, you could come here if you had 2 things; a job, and a sponcer; someone who could vouche for you. Now, all you need is two good legs and two good arms and you can walk here. Countless murders have been commited by illegals, and they get sent back to mexico, and no jailtime. Hitting home, an illegal totaled D. Itsons car here in town. The illegal gave the officer a fake name (he didnt have a licesne) and a fake address... it was a total loss for D.s insurance company. And guess what? if a cop finds out he is illegal, he CANT DO ANYTHING TO HIM!

3) Alaska oil. We need it. Bad, we need to stop relying on people who hate America for half our oil needs. The gulf of mexico hasnt suffered any horrible natural disasters BECAUSE of the drilling. The pacific ocean off the coast of cali is fine, people swim and surf it all day long. I cant see any horrible environmental disaster due to more drilling in alaska. Politicians will applaud a walmart being built on top of a once-bird santuary here in montgomery, but gasp at the idea of helping our poor heat thier homes cheaper or our gas prices going down due to drilling in alaska. I mean, dont think the EPA wont monitor every inch they make should htis happen, thats a good thing... itll be okay, calm down... i like trees too... there there...

4) Ironically, environment. Surprised? I mean, I dont want an Al Gore mentality where everytime a hurricane hits Bush will say "yep, thats because we pollute the air too much" (Actually, Robert Kennedy just blamed the Gov of MS for the hurricane for voting down some enviro legislation...wacko See here...) But I do think Bush needs to say things like "conserve more, recycle more". But guys, that wont make a hill of beans anyway to this nation. Remember when we were in high school? Recycling was the thing and everyone did it and alot of companies did it and alot of cities participated in picking it up for you... Now where are all the recycling people??? It takes too much work for the lazy bums of America!

Anyway, I am done. See? I dont blindly follow a man just because of his politcal party... i dont think he needs to be impeached, and many 'hate' him for other reasons... but there are things that tick me off about him...

His power is as limited as any President's power is in this day and age. The last Pres to really do anything was Reagan. I'm ok with stuff as long as I can worship God as I please, say what I want, and take care of my family. I guess I just don't really think about politics too much. Probably because I think all political systems are broken and are just poor mechanisms for maintaining some sort of status quo. I just don't see much changing and don't expect to. I know that sounds apathetic, but I just don't put much stock in politics or politicians.

Well I don't like Bush. I think his version of faith if blocked by the for rent sign in front of it. I'm not saying he doesn't believe but I've read too many transcripts from too many church visits touting each as authentic. I think his version of politics is built on the same shifting sand.
His original campaign promises touted Ss reform and now we're on the cusp of losing it all. Sure taking care of your self is great but all you need is one good disaster to spin things out of control. Would the class care to look out the window for an example. Stocks soar and crash on a whim and placing someone’s, multiplied by millions, livelihood on those odds is crazy.

It's his own dang state and he doesn't do anything about it!!! I think he doesn't care is because most of the illegals go to California and everywhere else but Texas! "he he well there cow pokes they ain't here so that just ain't our problem he he."

In all the research they've done which I've emailed in the past all the oil fields in Alaska tapped and drained produce 10 years of fuel. I don't think it's worth it. Saudi Arabia since the death of their last ruler has had documents opened saying that their reserves are far what they have been saying they are. SA has been preaching their reserves of untapped oil are around some 500 billion barrels. It turns out it could be half that which means within our life time we could see the bottom of the petrol barrel out of the Middle East. Studies have also shown that the gulf and all other oil rich areas could be tapped at far fewer amounts than previously suspected. What is needed are alternatives. The world is not going to stop progressing so someone has to think of something else to lube the wheels that are not oil and petrol based products. Hybrids are a start but there is technology out there that could revolutionize the world if people were given the means to research it.

Yeah, you're throwing me on the last one because I agree with you. The nation as a whole, I too, need to learn to clean up after it’s self. The body was perfectly designed to leave no trace after the shell is finished its usefulness. We should think of our actions in the same light as we are living to spare the living after we're dead.

I don't like the guy. He was quoted from air force one as saying New Orleans looked "devastating." Honestly he then said, "It must be doubly devastating from down there." What an idiot. But he’s a thoughtful idiot because he’s sacrificed two days from his four freaking week vacation. Understand also that most of the people in the country that he’s watching over couldn’t imagine what a four week vacation is like. I’m glad that he’s healthy because he might have to start running from lynch mobs soon.

I think more people taking individual responsibility is the key to us living in a better world. It's never gonna be a utopia, though. People are selfish and stupid for the most part. Democrats want programs (socialism), Republicans want a consumer-based economy (uncontrolled capitalism)...What do you do? We just have to live well and be thoughtful as individuals. Sweeping social, econonomic, and moral changes aren't going to happen. The world just doesn't work that way. The best thing we can do is live good lives and be examples, folks. Perhaps other people will follow suit, perhaps they won't. Free choice...God loves us!

Hmmm. I like Bush. I don't like some things he does. I wish that we had a party system like South Africa. I forget how it worked but you could have many parties that didn't hurt eachother, like we do here. Like how the Green Party really just gives vote to Republicans. Because no one's really either a Rep or Dem, we're all pretty down the middle. I know I am. I don't believe in war, but don't kill unborn babies. I liked Wesley Clark, he was a Dem that didn't believe in abortion. Very smart of Mr. Bush to return to the white house. Can you believe gas now? I wish I lived closer to school, I mean geez.

Down boy. Your post is a defense against an attack that has not come.

I think the Sipper apathetic method is part of the problem these days. Though I must admit, I am in the same camp.

The only thing I like about Bush is that he has energized a lot of voters into caring about politics again. Even if it is just to hate him.

We've covered this ground before, and I'm rather tired at the moment, but I don't see how Bush's anti-abortion stance is a real swaying point.

Abortion still exists, quite legally.

Maybe tomorrow I will comment more about your actual dislikes. I'm too warn out at the moment to get into them.

Actually he has done quite a bit to get our country moving in that direction. I mean he can't just say, "Abortion's not legal now." Government doesn't work that way. Besides, even if he hasn't down anything, I MOST CERTAINLY would rather vote for someone who thinks it's morally wrong then someone who doesn't.
To see Bush's strategy to abolish abortion go to this website and if you're too lazy to copy and paste kiss my rear. (love you:)

I meant to post this last night, but I was too tired. A large part of my problem with politics is how it is so partisaned.

Take the environmental issues. Liberals come out and say we shouldn't drill in Alaska because it would totally destroy the entire state. It would create a vast post-apocolyptic like atmosphere, cause the ice caps to melt and destroy us all. They have highly qualified scientiest to demonstrate how all this is true.

The conversvatives say that creating massive drilling is all perfectly safe, would in fact improve the environement and like to show pretty pictures of deer standing in front of oil wells. They have highly qualified scientists to demonstrate this is true.

Somewhere in the middle is the truth. But we don't hear the truth because of all the rhetoric. There is so much venom in politics these days it is more than I can stand.

Nice article Di. Thanks.

I did find it interesting that it seems to be from a pro-choice site. Some of it is very cool, like I didn't know all the info (or rather did know, and forgot it) about his judicial appointments. I did find a few things peculiar or even disturbing.

The Gag Rule prohibits providing medically accurate counseling about abortion to their clients.

Sorry, but shouldn't we be able to provide the information about it? Silencing the facts seem like a bad idea.

Dr. Hager states that the symptoms of premenstrual syndrome can be cured by prayer and reading Scripture.

Thats just kind of goofy to me. Probably a little hot tea and meditation would help as well.

The President withheld the Congress-approved $34 million for the United Nations Population Fund. UNFPA provides critical services to women around the world including educational materials, reproductive health services and contraception.

Anyone know any more about this. I have to wonder if it didn't support out right abortions. Because witholding the things mentioned is absurd.

You're certainly right that he couldn't just ban abortion. He could try, but he would fail. To me though, a political candidates position on abortion isn't the only factor in my decision to vote for them or not. Which I know it is the deciding factor for a lot of people.

I've found that the best way to see if anything is getting done about an issue is to go to the people who are on the other side from you. They'll be the first to tell you what your side is accomplishing.
I guess it is a decideding factor for me because it's the one issue I'm passionate about. Maybe it's because I'm Christian, maybe it's because I'm going to be a teacher and I fell like all Children deserve a chance, maybe it's because I watch Discovery Health Channel too much, Maybe it's because my mom's had a few. I know I limit myself by only voting to anti-abortion folks but c'est la vie.

I have heard that Bush is anti birth control, which is just ridiculous because he doesn't have the scientific facts.... and to me birth control pills are the best thing for menst. cramps.... ever since I've been on the pill, mine have been a lot more tolerable.

Mat Brewster said...

I understand perfectly that many people make abortion the decision maker when it comes to who to vote for.

I personally feel that legal abortions are going to remain so for quite some time, and therefore whether or not a political candidate is pro choice or pro life doesn't really matter as much. Sure they will make minor adjustments to how many people can afford or have access to abortions, but that's about all that is going to change...for now.

This being said, other issues become more important to me when determing a president. There are a number of reasons I would have voted against Bush in the last election. Primarily it was sending a lot of Americans to their death in Iraq for what is essentially a lie.

Mat Brewster said...

Not believing in birth control is insane. If you are anti abortion, you should at least allow your people some means of not getting pregnant.

How much better would the problems in Africa be if they were given better education and access to birth control?
