Greetings from Dalla TX, and "tatawillies"

I am in Dallas using a wireless internet connection belonging to "tatawillie".
Tip; if you go wireless in your home, please secure it. There are like 9 to chose from in this neighborhood... 2 of which are secured.
Had dinner with Catherine and her hubby and J. Gayton and his wife. More to come. Fun time was had.
Love yall, planes landed safe and sound, have seats all to myself on both flights.

Glad you are safe. Is there any real safety issue with the wireless access? I know people can use the internet if they are close by, but could they actually steal your info?

yes, they can. Unless you take basic precautions.
I was at a la quinta and browsed over to My Network PLaces... I saw someones computer online, so for giggles, i clicked on it...
OH NO! It is asking for a username and password... hmmmm... administrator, blank password... bingo, i could surf all HER files, and delete them as I liked, which of course I did not.
ALl you have to do is enable WEP on a wirelss access point. It is easy, it give you a 128bit encryptes password, and you use that network key on your wireless computer. UNless some really smart hacker in in front of your house, you are safe. And make sure your administraotr password is not blank, and not password... by the way, I am not on tatawillies network now, I am on prav1's, whoever the heck he is. All these houses are so close together, it is insane.
Wireless is safe and fun, you just have to take the basic precautions. Most folks pull it out of the box, plug it in, and surf. Which is fine, it works that way, but everyone around you can surf too. And plop a few viruses on your computer if you like.
