I'm legal!

My 21st Birthday was Friday and I gotta say, it's my fave bday yet. I got a lot a things I"ve wanted for a while. New car, a sassy red minivan, a hamster, a rock n roll DVD set I've wanted (once it gets in the mail), some clothes, and a guitar! It's a really old one Jen gave me to paint and learn how to play. I just strung it and I have to say I'm proud of myself. However, I'm faced with the realization I don't know how to tune it or play it. Any pointers, Gentlemen?
Everything has been going well. I visited my aunt last week and my whole Pigg side of my family will be here at the beach this week (yay). I start my next summer session tomorrow. Are you guys ready for the hurricane? We're prayin for you.
Will you all be in town August 11-14th ish? We had a small weekend trip planned for Hilton Head, but we were talking today, and we'd honestly rather come see you.
Love you much, Diana

Happy Birthday!!! As far as I know, we will all be in twon on that weekend...y'all come on down! That is the weekend before my 31st B-day (August 15th). What kind of minivan did you get?!?!? That's cool! Minivans are way better than those big, gas-guzzling SUVs. We all weathered this storm without much power loss or damage. Thanks for all the prayers!

My 21st birthday was spent with Brew in the waffle house. He bought me a slice of my favorite pie; their lemon pie. I love minivans! As for guitar pointers, learn the three main chords first; G, A, and D. and get a tuner.
We will be here that week in august as far as I know. And the hurricane came and went with alot less hoopla than they thought. But, the power at my office is out, which means when it comes back up, i will have LOTS of work to do.

funny story, as I wrote my last comment, my home computer made a funny buzzing noise. I finished mt comment and turned it off. The I opened the case, and turned it back on, looking for the sourse of the buzz... just then, a birght flash of blue light popped in my face, now my computer is dead. Luckily, I have my work laptop here with me. looks like I will need to buy a new power supply... heck, I may as well buy a new computer, with like a 3 year warranty. I am sick of working on computers!

Dang, Jamison! Sorry about your computer. Di, go online and search the web for guitar chords and learners' manuals. There is tons of stuff out there for FREE.

JS said...

true, but chords will sound wrong unless the guitar is tuned.

bigsip said...

Jamison is correct...you can find tuning charts for guitar online, too. You will either need a tuner or a pitch-pipe. If you don't have a good sense of tune, you should probably get a tuner just to make sure the guitar is tuned well. Or, you could wait till y'all come visit and we will tune it for you! I am sure you can do it from stuff on the internet, though. Check this site: http://www.personal.psu.edu/users/f/p/fpm108/glw/lessons/lesson2.htm
Hopefully it will help you get started.

We just went to a family music-making this past Saturday. It was much better than the last, Jamison. Fewer people, more good music. Of course, there will be another one in a month or so, I'm sure. Maybe it'll coincide with Charlie and Di's trip down! That'd be sweet!

I have a dodge caravan. I like it a lot too. It's so roomy and safe and it has AIR CONDITIONING!!!!!!!!!! I think we're about 90% sure we'll come visit. We'll probably leave after work august 12 and leave for home august 16. I'll definatley try the different web sites as well as a music store we have in our mall for different instructional manuals (hopefully a video) and new strings and what not. I need to paint it.... I'll bring it with me to Montgomery. I've already learned one musical instrument and it seems like guitar should be easier than flute. But I'm probably going to kick myself if I'm no good. Then I'll never get Paul McCartney to marry me.... I'm sorry about your pooter, Jamison. I think we should move to Montgomry and Charlie and you should open a business. I love you all!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Make that like 75% sure. :)

have a mechanic give your caravan a good once-over before you make any trips. Our next door neighbors have a dodge van and love it, but the transmission went poop after 100,000 miles, of course they got it fixed, but thats expensive. I just dont want it happeneing while yall are on the road. Of course I am a worry wart. After we got our new honda, larissa had to drive to nashville alone... this was before we ever owned a cell phone. Well, I bought a cell phone in case she broke down. I was worried that a brand new car would break down...

bigsip said...

...And a brand new Honda at that! You get -20 points for paranoia, Jamison! J/K pal. You love your wife. I would have been totally nuts if Rachel had to go even an hour away on the road by herself! Better to be safe that sorry.

BTSTSR (Better safe than sorry...) D, if you dont understand that acronym, ask charlie, he will explain it... my acronyms drive him mad... like mine for Taco Bell is TCB, and he hates it. We used to arge for like 20 minutes. I knew he was always right, but I stood my ground for the fun of it. He ordered 10 tacos from TCB once, for himself.

bigsip said...

And he didn't explode? Dang TCB makes me indignant, man! BTSTSR!

Diana said...

LOL! I just went and asked Charlie to take me to TCB. He grudgingly replied "Taco Bell?" Jamison, we love you cause your a worry wart. Yeah, we do need to get stuff looked at just to be safe. I noticed the breaks are a little squeaky. Yeah, that's a man who loves his tacos.

HA!
If only he had said something like "Youve been talking to Jamison havent you?"

Ask him about my 50-50 theory. He may not know it, but Brew is a student of my 50-50 philosophy

I rarely worry about trip stuff. Amy's been plenty of places without me. Well none that far, but she's tracked to Nasvhille a time or two without moi. Instead of worrying I just planned a nice night alone.

Speaking of being without a wife, any of you guys get excited when the wife is out only to find out that you are really boring alone?

Oh, and very happy birthday to you diana!

My grandma died on my 21st and I had to drive the 800 odd miles from Alabama to Oklahoma. Not a pleasant birthday for me.

Mat Brewster said...

Ahhhhhh the 50-50 theory. Purge, purge!

This is the problem with e-mail/blogs. In the days we lived together I could argue my way though Jamisons stupid theories (love ya jamison) with my vernaculating muscle. But the written word via the internet just doesn't hold the same punch.

Wow, Brew, that is a crap bday. And look at you, spreaking French and all ("moi"). Charlie told me about the 50/50 theory. I mean it makes since to me. Especially when predicting things in the future like the weather. Like tomorrow it's either gonna rain or not. And I really like road trips so I don't worry much. I don't like interstate though cause there's no country to look at and the speed limits really high. I may take some detours this trip to alabamer!!!

It was a rotten birthday, but I've had much better since then. Although now every year I have to remember the death of my grandma which is sad. But, I try to remember her in life. She was a wonderful, sweet woman who brought a lot of joy to those who knew her.

Remind me to discuss my irritation with people who pepper their sentences with foreign words sometime.
