I am a huge fan of images from space (See google satalite mapes for much joy). But to give us all an impression of the hurricane damage, I came across this site which shows some before and after shots via space of N.O. Very humbling...

Also, I just read a pretty heartwarming article. It is quite long, but it sums this thing all up and is worth a read if you are eating lunch at your desk today. The good, the bad, and the let's-shoot-them-now, by Peggy Newnan.

Man, that's amazing! It's gonna take years for NO to recover from this!
i think i am done seeking out more news on this subject... the level at which humans can sink to when their fellow humans are dying is disgusting. I was sitting here reading about it, and all the death and crap and about started to cry and had to call my wife just to tell her I love her and how lucky we both are.
do yourself a favor and stop reading the news. The only good news I have found is that the mayer of atlanta got mad at the high gas prices and arrested some price gougers, a few hours later, all the gas prices in atlanta came way down...
There's a fine line between informing yourself and I can't watch anymore this is too depressing.... I reached that line last night when I was watching the news and they were talking about the great lenghts doctor's are going through to keep premies alive in the NO hospitals.
yeah, i am still walking around in a depressed sort of mood... if this were happening in california it may not bother me, but it is about 6 or 7 hours away from me...
