Turn it OFF

Something one of us said in another post about getting depressed over all the huricane stuff got me thinking. After September 11, lots of people got down and depressed about all the bad stuff going on in NY and around the world. Sometimes it's good to have info at our fingertips, but sometimes, you have to shut off the news and just relax. I had to do this after 9/11 and I am doing it now, too. I'm not saying we shouldn't care or respond to needs. I just think we get information overload too many times. The news gloms are all going to cover this stuff ad nauseum and give every gory detail, courtesy of Geraldo and other annoying exhibitionists. Let's just know the troubles, fill the needs, and not let it get us down. It's a time to help others and not hurt ourselves with doomsday news. Just a word of caution and encouragement from your friendly neighborhood Sip!

i am actually enjoying the news now. I like seeing people help other people. In fact, ive enjoyed it so much that it inspired me to go take sack lunches to the red cross here in town and to some people staying in hotels that have fled the south. Ill post pics of that adventure this week.
made me feel good, and so does MOST of the hurricane coverage now. The only part that depressed me was the looting, raping, and killing due to thugs not being in a cage.

Cool...it's good that things have turned around a bit. Continue doing good, my friend!

I watch the morning coverage and pick up bits and pieces at work and then don't watch or read anything about it while I'm back home with my family. I can rationalize what horrors are taking place I don't need to be spoon fed every detail.
Jamison, I know it's not what you're looking for but I'm proud of you.

(chalking up one proud on my 'who-thinks-i-am-a-good-person chalk board... notices that Mullins sees me chalk it up there, i quickly turn the '1' into an I and then write the phrase "1 dont need a chalk board like this". I think fake a laugh and say "man, can you believe Brew would keep a board like this around? Geez...")

honestly it was very easy, and the happy faces were worth it.

Ifilm.com has an interesting clip from Fox News a few days ago. It was basically Shepard Smith and Geraldo Rivera waxing about how terrible the whole things was. It was like they had given up which is kind of a strange thing for major cable anchors.

Honestly, that's about all I've watched. With a weird work schedule, and only fuzzy PBS on the tv, I found it difficult to get any info. I guess I could have searched online, but it seemed too depressing.

How does Amy think she's doing on her tests?

Amy thinks she is doing ok. She was pretty happy with one of them on Saturday, but blew the Syntax exam that afternoon. Amy has categorized her studying into subjects. One of the major essays on that exam included stuff from another subject and it threw her off.

The two she took yesterday she is pretty sure she did ok, not great but enough to pass.

One more tomorrow and she is done.
