Lost and Found

I lost the River City best first novel competetion. Publishers have to sell books and I keep getting rejections saying something to the effect of "We really like your novel, but it's too hard to sell." Oh well, the market goes in circles. Maybe it'll be publishable one day. Until then, I'll just keep writing and enjoying it!

I found this cool competetion online! I love opera and I enjoy singing along with my boys Pavarotti, Domingo, and Carreras. I think I might actually send in an application and audition CD. My cousin, Ric has a small recordding studio n his house and I just need two arias to start. I would LOVE to sing for a living! Don't know if that would be the end result, but it would be fun to do the contest anyway!

I"m sorry you didn't win! It will all pay off eventually. Good luck submitting the CD, Sipperotti!

LOL...Sipperotti...thanks for the encouragement, Di. Writing pays off in so many ways. If I never get published, it is alright. At least I wrote and I tried. That's more than most folks do. I miss writing when I don't do it. I feel like it is something I need to do, if that makes any sense. It's almost like keeping a diary. There's so much of me in what I write. There's also some of all of you in there. Anyway, thanks for the kind words, lady.

Someday you'll be dead and your kids friends will see one of your books read it and send it around, then and only then once you're worm food your kids will rake in the stacks of cash that were destined for you.
Sing man sing! Who cares about the final destination! Jules and I are sending out everything we pull in as dollars but we're happy doing jobs that we both enjoy. Neither of us finished a degree but we've both landed jobs that we really like and challenge us. All of you guys need to forget about higher education and all that jazz. You need to just go visit your cousin and cut some tracks. You did it with writing because you one day committed to simply write. It was a creative release that you'll chase the rest of your life. When I shot that pilot (temporarily on hold due to funds) it was only after ages of bitc#ing about how I could do a better job. I learned a lot from putting my own money where my mouth was. Sing Sing Sing Sing; don't worry about the rest of, "what comes next". Just do it! I mean God told you to, you should listen to the guy, he's been around.
BTW for everyone reading this is not a critical lecture it's a half time, locker room, pep talk! Sing Sing Sing!
Oh yeah, Amy and Di have to stay in school until they are done. Becasue their jobs sort of depend on that crap.

LOL...yes, I will sing! I was just looking at the application for the competition. I can't wait! I am thinking of singing Nessun Dorma for one of my arias, but it is so popular that I don't want it to seem cliche'. I know I will need to do one German or French peice and one Italian peice. I'll be looking for sheet music and acompaniment tracks very soon!

Yeah, moms and dads don't really like people taking care of their kids who don't know what their doing. I hear America is really moving toward teachers have to have their masters, so I may go to Auburn when I move to Montgomery. Coastal has a one year program, but I wanna get out of here!!!
I totally think you should go for it!! And I totally understand the need to write!!! I really need to express myself but I've been doing it in different ways recently, like devoting myself to being a great teacher. BTW, if you guys find anything around the house you think I can use, send it down. I need all sorts of things. Today I bought a REAL DR.'s stethascope from a thrift store. It will be great for my dress up center!
Anywhoober, Sip, go for it. I'm a big FOLLOW the DREAM person. I can't wait to hear it!

Good luck Sipper!

Thanks, y'all! I found it was much easier to hit the high C in Nessun Dorma after some good bluegrass pickin and singin last night! Jamison and I had our regular Thurs night jam session with the band. I got to play the upright bass on a couple of songs, too! It was really fun, and I thought I did pretty well for never having played one before. What'd you think, Jamison?

Diana... what will you be using the "stuff" for? Do you already have a classroom to use? Brings me back to my old kindergarten classroom days- dress-up, art stations, etc. This is gonna be cool!

You got it ma'am. Most of the stuff I'm collecting won't be used until I'm in my internship or an actual teaching position. I thought it would be best to start collecting now. So far I have a sombraro, stethascope, blocks, fairy wings, and some books. I need all sort of things, though. You can turn just about anything into a learning experience. SOME stuff I need for the classes I'm taking. For instance, I have to put a music prop box together for my creative experiences class. I'm probably going to get some kazoos, some scarfs or ties for creative movement, other things, and I have to make a prop box for art too... :)

Rachel, when I'm a teacher I'll get you to come be a special guest and we can do some fun artsy things.
An example of "anything" being instructional: old dirty toy car can be used to show children tire treads in sand. Or an old hankerchief could be creative movement. Don't bust your backs or anything, but if you stumble upon something, save it for me.

You're gonna be a good teacher, Di. Already thinking about what you're gonna do!

Aw, shucks. That's very encouraging, thank you. My classes I'm taking both prepare me and freak me out.
