All of MP3

Rachel and I got an MP3 player for X-Mas. It's one of the coolest inventions to date, in my opinion, mostly because the tiny things can hold TONS of music and you can download from the internet from some prime warehouses if you know where to look.

Check out this site:

When you get there, you'll see the cool thing about it. It's a site based in Russia and they charge very little for songs. You give them no less than $10 and every song is $.02 per megabyte! They even have a deal now where you get 20% more for each dollar, so we're getting $12 worth for $10. And that, my friends, is a lot of good music.

Selection's great, too. I got Yes, Rush, and Bruce Hornsby so far. But, they have everything from the Dead to Disco.

Darn! That's better than my spot. I use www.mp3search.ru. They are 10¢ per song.

This place is AWESOME! The sound quality is phenomenal and they have pretty much any music you can think of, plus tons of other audio media. We actually started with $13 in our account and after almost 40 songs still have almost $10 left! And that's after dling at CD quality.

We have about 60 songs now. Rachel uploaded about 20 to the player last night and the sound quality is phenomenal. I never thought I'd enjoy an MP3 player so much!

By the way...Do any of you have suggestions for high-energy music for exercise? That's the main reason we got the MP3 player.

I have downloaded somewhere areound 40 songs that I know wiwll keep me energized while I run. Rachel DL'd somewhere around 20 disco tunes. I know, I know, but that's what she likes to sweat to...

Anyway, suggestions for high-energy music are welcome.

Download "I want you to want me" by cheap trick (live version)
no matter the time of day, that song pumps me up.

Anyhting by the following should be great:

1) Milky
2) Korn
3) vengaboys
4) DJ Sammy
5) Deepest Blue (Song by same title is great!)

If you want a little strange, look for Benny Benassi

I just want stuff that rocks...Not big on the dance club stuff.

Does Korn rock? I need stuff that doesn't go "oomph oomph oomph oomph"

I wonder about the legality of that site. That seems awful cheap for them to actually be paying royalties to the music publishers.

Not that I'm discouraging you from this venture.

The white stripes have some really great upbeat rock tunes. Try "Seven Army Nation" or "Doorbell"

Stay away from Korn and any nu-metal. Too much hip hop and yelling.

Hmmmm, my music collection is way low on upbeat rockers. Did everybody read my recent blog posting on the subject? If you need a sad slow folk song let me know.

Oh yeah and I so want an mp3 player. What kind did you get and what features does it have? I oh so want the new megagig ipods, but the price is still a little too high.

You said high energy. I'll admit, that I hated it when I first heard it, but after a little while it becomes addictive.

Brew are you jealous? Good thing it's not next year, eh?

Well, we got an RCA MP3 player from WAL-MART. It's only a 128 meg, but that holds more than enough music for a workout. You can fit up to 4 hours (roughly 120 songs) of music on it.

It was also inexpensive as MP3 players go ($40).

It came with an arm band and all of the other software and accessories necessary for getting the music uploaded quickly and easily.

Rachel loaded around 20 songs in a matter of minutes last night.

About the ipod...My mother-in-law just got an ipod shuffle for xmas. They're pretty cool if you have usb 2.0, but if you don't, they kind of suck.

The ipod shuffle charges, downloads, and does pretty much everything else from a usb 2.0 port. If you have a 2.0 port, it takes about 4 hours to charge. If you don't it apparently takes 2 days.

The download speed is agonizingly slow, too. Anyway, just a tip.

We love the one we got. The sound quality is really great and the player itself is very small and easy to transport. Go for it, Brew!

Sorry, Chuck. I appreciate it. The dance beat just drives me crazy.

Brew, they claim to be legal and that's good enough for me. Check it out and get some very good, inexpensive music!

im fishy about the legality of it too.
child porn sites claim it is legal in the country they are located in, but it aint in america... but i could sleep at night easier from DLing a song rather than a naked child.

bigsip said...

Yeah, DLing music doesn't bother me at all.

They have a big write-up on their site about the legality of it all, but they do admit that there are people who're miffed and trying to shut them down.

Won't happen, though. They're in Russia and pretty much untouchable for now.

Yay for you guys! I got an MP3 player too from my Dad! I'm going to stick to uploading (not sure if that's the right terminology) my own stuff though. I'm not big into downloading. Mine is a less expensieve model too, but it's perfect for walking around school.

bigsip said...

Cool, Di!

I don't think I'd be into DLing with dial-up, either.

It's much easier to load your own stuff anyway. You probably already have most of the stuff you'd want to listen to already, anyhow.

FYI, i need this blog to go lower... everytime I scroll down I see the title and end up singing "All of me" for the next 20 minutes. And I dont know all the words so somehow it ends up turning into "I'll be home for Christmas"
