A Poll, If You Will

OK, I need to know if everyone would be game for a big, musical get-together for Saturday, March 18th down Luverne way.

I plan to talk to my cousin, Ric, my other family members, and our BG group about getting together that evening for some musical fun if everyone is amenable to that.

Please let me know on here and we can get it all together while everyone is here!

I think with the number of people staying in Montgomery versus the number of people in Luverne, maybe this time they could come here? Plus I have my own selfish reasons; I get sick every time I go in that workshop with a wood fire going.

luverne sounds fine..but having been pregnant and had dog-nose..
(where everything you smell is 10xs
worse than usual) i would have to say i agree with rachel.

i'm just tickled pink about getting
to see you all...wherever it is...

it'll be so warm then that there probably will be no need for a fire.

should be a perfect, early spring Alabama evening.

im game of course, but what would it hurt to have you barrow the bass from George and let us jam in your outdoor living room? Rick would come, clyde might swing by, etc...

or better yet, we can just do our weekely practice and instead of doing it at the church, we can all meet in your car port... assuming the neighbors wont hate you.

ugh, you posted a pic showcasing my bald spot...

Sorry...I was trying to get us all together.

Yeah, those ideas sound awesome! We'll figure something out. I just really hope we can have a musical night.

You and me gots ta show off our skilz, homey!

I vote stay in Montgomery. I doubt either my wife or I will be in the mood for more travel after the hudreds of miles we'll be traveling to get to Montgomery

JS said...

good point. Luverne is not far, but I can see how a weary traveler would not want to make an extra 45 minute journey... I'd prob be the same.

bigsip said...

OK...just thought I'd offer.

Perhaps we can strike up some music around ole Montgomery.

I think we can get something together.

I think hanging in Monkeytown would be good for us.

I know the Sipper family is legendary for their warmth and kindness but we’re running full force into Caleb’s terrible two’s and I’d rather subject the kid to as little extra stress as possible.

I mean at 32 six hours in the car is a drag, at two years old it really sucks…

I’d love to hear some music from you two cowpokes and your picking buddies but if things are going to get complicated then there is no need to go through a lot of fuss.

I want to hang out with you yahoo’s first. There is no need to find ways to entertain us.

I talked to Amy about it all last night and she looked at me like I'd never mentioned the trip. Which, of course, I have on many an occasion. Its just that she's busy thinking about school and stuff that this trip is further from her mind. And of course she doesn't read the blog or get our e-mails back and forth so the drum doesn't beat for her excitement. Me? I'm getting really pumped up for our little reunion bash.

She doesn't mind going, and I'm sure she'll have fun, just remember she's going to be sort of an outsider here. Juliana is a member of the club, and Diana has gotten ensconced into our group. Even Rachel and Larissa and Jodi have the advantage of being on home turf. Amy certainly knows you guys and likes most of ya, but it still will be a little weird for her.

Don't get me wrong you don't have to wear kid gloves and she's not mad about the trip or anything. It will just be a little uncomfortable for her at first.

A couple of things I'd like to do: I do want to go to Faulkner. I haven't been since my sister graduated 6 or 7 years ago. I want to see how things have changed and just wander my old stomping ground. I'd also like to see Dr. Morris and a couple of other folks.

I definitely want to go to the Shakespeare festival and maybe have a picnic. I've told my wife about this joint for ages and I'd like her to see it. HOnestly I'd love to catch a show there too. It would be something to do, they put on great shows, and it would be a nice thing for Amy to enjoy rather than just sitting around.

It looks like Twelfth Night and To Kill a Mockingbird will be running, anybody else want to go?

Other than that, honestly I'm pretty good. A nice dinner somewhere would be great. Speaking of meals why don't we work some of those out? I hate eating out for every meal, but I don't want the Sippers or Bralys or McCowns to be put out all the time either. Can we have a group supper at everybodys house each night? We could all pitch in on the costs and those inclined can help cook (I'm a great dishwasher).

bigsip said...

I think doing some dinners at our houses sounds great!

If everyone pitches in, it'll be WAY cheaper than going out all the time.

We'll all do our best to make Amy feel comfortable and we'll all have some grand fun!

Don't know about a show, although I'd love ot catch one. I've seen TKAM out there before, but I could do Twelfth Night.

There's gonna be lots going on and much fun overall, so y'all get ready to rumble!

I can relate to her, i felt that way when I did thanksgiving at a friend of larissas parents house...

dont look at it as a trip to see us, look at it as a trip to show your wife where you went to college and all the places you went and the stuff you did... we all just happen to be there at the same time.

And if yall are staying with us, we are home bodies, anytime yall wanna hit our house, we will go! Believe me; if i had an 'eject' button on thanksgiving, i would have pushed it within an hour of the visit.

bigsip said...

But, don't make a hermitage while you're here!

We definitely want to visit as much as possible.

We've missed you guys and don't know when we'll all get together again.

But, again, there is the need to break away sometimes...

Mat Brewster said...

Well we've got like four days together. That will be plenty of time to visit and have fun and still have some time to do our own thing.

mullinz8 said...

Brew I think you should make plans to do your own thing without question. For two reasons it’s a vacation for you guys and so that we can all plan our evenings. If Amy has a Day-Timer I’d steal it and mark the days so she doesn’t accidentally plan something over it.

I love eating dinner and sharing chores at folk’s homes in town. It will cut costs and it’s a good time to just visit and chill. Isaac loves to help in the kitchen and can stir a skillet of food without displacing everything. He’s pretty good at cracking eggs too.

I don’t know if Jules has something she would like to do but I’m pretty much open for anything. We might make a zoo trip, having never been, and bum around but I’m pretty sure that we won’t hit a show (Jules you can if you would like to, I know you always liked hanging around with Brew more than me) due to the kids.

I still love the picnic idea, those tow nibbling geese, a Frisbee, some yummy food and a bunch of kids, young and old alike I think make for a good afternoon.

Are the Chucks going to be there in March?

bigsip said...

Right now, it looks like the Chucks are gonna be here, but Chuck would have to say for sure.

Let's start trying to make some plans on dinners, locations, etc. This is coming up fast and we need to figure out what's gonna happen so we can go from there.

Anyone?

the goose biting your toe is a great story and ive told it often... you need to come back and seek revenge...

I would say we can have a cook out at my house one night, but I am so obsessive about keeping my house clean id probably be curled up in a ball in a corner wimpering if I had 12 adults and 4 kids in my house...

besides, who wants to drive all the way out to my house, Josh's house is cooler, bigger and closer! Without a doubt we need to have a picnic all together in shakespear... jules (and maybe larissa and jodie) is the only girl aware as to how that place was a life-blood to us guys. Many memories were made there and much booty was begotten.

bigsip said...

LOL..."much booty was begotten"

Yes, we can have gatherings a-plenty at our abode!

Actually, if y'all want to assign different nights or lunches for different families, we can do that.

Or, we can all just pool the cash and do the communal cooking thing each time.

I really liked the way we did the meals in Gburg that time.

We had some good and interesting stuff and it was fun! Also took the stress off by keeping the spending lower and keeping us from battling traffic and restaurant waits

So, how should it be done?

We could definitely host 2 or 3 things at our pad.

Chuck and Jodi might want one at theirs (Chuck?).

Otherwise, we'll do picnics and eat out and such!

BTW, Brew. Might want to see what's playing at FUDT. You can get a show and meal for cheaper, see campus, and show your honey your old stomping grounds!

Shakes is posh, though.

JS said...

im not going to make plans this far in advance... i am of the school of thought that all plans can be made a week or so before it happens...

bigsip said...

I'm just talking about preplanning.

It'll make it much easier to have a general idea of what's gonna happen.

But, the fine plans can wait.

Everything's subject to change anyway.

JS said...

Well, count on me to show up when everyone is at your house or before is help is needed. L and I will buy whatever food products are necessary and Ill help flip burgers.

Ill bring the mandoloin if anyone wants to sing along... oh, and I need to bring mullins his mando back!

I think Brew needs to check out theater things and let the rest of us know so that we can at least say we’re not having a family dinner on Friday over Saturday, those who want to do the same thing should plan accordingly so that all solo evening activities can happen on the same night.

As for grub it might be fun to mix things up a bit. I someone wants to open up their kitchen I’ll be happy to make something for folks or I’ll throw some money at someone and let them do it.

If we’re planning a menu of sorts I would love a cook out type thing. That way I know that my boys can get hot dogs because nothing else will be appealing to them, they might like Jamison’s Mexican cheese thing because the only work they care about in that situation is cheese. This way we can cook a variety of foods, fish, bird, cow, lamb, whatever and clean up might be a bit less with paper plates and such. I don’t know. Plus who doesn’t love a fire!

I would love to have fancy and wonderfully prepared foods but easy, fast and friendly work pretty well too.

Shakespeare is a must for all I would think. I will mention no booty had there because Jules was the only female I ever associated with… : ) There was this one girl with these, oh well never mind…

Amy wants to see Twelfth Night. I'm thinking Friday night we could go. Tickets are $21.99 for "level 2" and $36.99 for "level 1"

I can order tickets for everyone so we might be able to get seats together and then you guys can pay me back.

So raise your hand if you want to go. How is friday night for everyone?

bigsip said...

Let me discuss with Rachel. I think that sounds great!
