Diana's In Labor!

All elements of surprise aside, Baby Stubbs is on his way into the world! Last night, Diana called me to discuss the fact that her doctor recommended inducing labor today because of his increasing size. Now, Diana is vehemently opposed to using an epidural- she wants a natural birth, and more power to her for that. So inducing was a scary proposition, because pitocin causes contractions to come on hard and fast; trust me, I know! By the time I got my epidural with Luke, I was shaking uncontrollably and throwing up from the pain. So Diana was going to talk it out with her doctor this morning at her regular appointment, and if she and Charlie so decided, would go ahead and get on the pitocin drip, or "pit" as the nurses affectionately and appropriately call it.

Well, when the doctor examined her this morning, Diana was discovered to be in labor already! So no pitocin, just a good old natural labor. When she called, they were "killing a half hour" as instructed by the doctor, and getting their labor bags out and ready. Last I spoke to her, Diana said she was feeling cramps, but no full-on contractions.

I am suddenly nervous for them both. I shall pray for it to go well... you threw up from the pain...?

Any word? I'm anxious.

My fear is that larissa will be in labor and have no idea. Larissa is always talking about tightness in her back and belly and I look around franticly searching for a stop watch of some sort...

Don't worry Jamison. She'll know. She's just having Braxton-Hicks contractions; those drove me crazy for over a month before I went into labor.

I'm thinking about calling their cell this morning; I'm getting anxious, too.

Ok, I just got off the phone with Diana, a very happy new mommy! Baby Harrison was born around 11:20 last night. The whole family is well and happy.

Inquiring women who are about to give brith want to know.... was she able to make it without the pain meds?

She had something called Stadol to "take the edge off" but said that there were no edges taken off. It did relax her a bit between contractions. But other than that, she did it med-free. 12 hours of labor and 22 minutes of pushing. Apparently she's a champion pusher.

Gran empleo Dando Nacimiento, Di! (Great Job giving birth, Di!). We have a new addition to our clan, bueno. I have no idea if that is a good translation.

Wonderful news! Harrison is about to rock the world of Stubbs, it’s a wonderful ride guys, never wish they get older because eventually they do and after a late shoot when you walk in the door they will continue to sit at the computer and only acknowledge you if you ask them what level of Lego Star Wars they are on.

To catch up. Brews awesome, awesome, awesome, what a blessed adventure you’re about to embark upon.

Global Warming is a joke

I do so enjoy a parade so long as it’s the duration of a slow red light.

Chuck, “Looks like someone’s been up to the Devil’s business.” Caleb will do just fine finding some hot mountain girl but thanks for the consideration. Congrats on the marriage, ten years has never looked so good.

Been missing you all

Hey everybody!!! Charlie will do a full on post later with pix and what not. There's no way I could deny the proud daddy the official post. All three of us are doing well. We got to come home about 3 yesterday afternoon. Harrison is beautiful and perfect and I've never been happier. My labor experience was wonderful and I'm so glad I did it the way I did. However, I would NOT have gotten through it epidural free without Charlie by my side. He was a great coach. We haven't posted yet because our phone has been mysteriously messed up. Love you guys! Now I'm going to go rest while I can!
