Name that Company (The Home Version)

This might be a really fun BLOG.

I'm letting you all in on the ground floor. I'm trying to come up with the name of a business that can also be a dot com (Emphasis on dot COM. It can't be .net or .biz). If you come up with something better than what I have below, I'll buy you a $10 meal.

Here's the RULZ of the game. (If you don't follow them, you are not eligible for the prize.)

First, it must have one of the following words (or variation of the words)

  • graphic (but don't be crude)

  • typeset (typesetting is also a possibility)

  • layout

  • design

Second, it can be no longer than 18 characters without dashes or other symbols. Letters and numbers only.

Third, you must check to see if it is available first. Go here: http://www.networksolutions.com/whois/index.jsp. Type in your ideas for a domain name like "super.com", if it does not have an "X" in the .com column then post it to this blog. If I like it I add it to my list. Should I choose your idea as my business name you will get credit on my Website and a $10 meal on me. The meal will be in the form of a gift card of your choice (if I can buy it online) or PayPal deposit.

Fourth, when you post your ideas, send me a separate e-mail with your entries to charlesmccown(at)charter.net. Replace "(at)" with @ symbol. This is my only way to get back in touch with you to send you your prize.

Fifth, if I come up with a variation of something someone else posts. Partial credit will be given on my site, but no gift card or PayPal credit will be givien.

Sixth, contest ends May 31st at 5:00 pm Central time. Check back on June 1st to see the winner.

Here's what I've come up with...

These three play on the idea of typesetting paragraphs and graphical layout:

    ParGraphics

    ParGraphic

    ParGraphical

I just like the sound of these:

    BarNoneGraphics

    GraphicsBarNone

    SoulOfGraphics

    TheSoulOfGraphics

These are other possibilities:

    MustBeGraphics

    GraphicsOfCourse

ENJOY THE GAME!

I almost asked what kind of business you have. Hah!

Seems all my wonderful ideas are already taken, hence the following:

LayItOutDesigns.com
DeGraphicSigns.com
IDegraphics.com

Okay, I'm not starving, Just having fun with the game. I won't be able to sleep tonight.

Great...I love it...someone outside our group read our blog because I started a competition.

Thanks yudelka. I like LayItOutDesigns. It's now on my list. BTW: contest ends May 31st at 5:00 pm Central time.

Actually Kermit, I check out your team blog every now and again--love the spiritual discussions. I've commented before.

The 'game' caught my very playful eye.

BTW, I'll take a Walmart gift certificate for the $10. LOL

I'll keep putting my noggin to work on this. It's fun! And maybe I can go to Walmart with a whole ten to spend on only moi.

Yudelka, I made some adjustments to the rulz because I forgot that others outside our posting group actually visited our blog. They are basically:

One, the meal will be in the form of a gift card of your choice (if I can buy it online) or PayPal deposit.

Two, when you post your ideas, send me a separate e-mail with your entries to charlesmccown(at)charter.net. Replace "(at)" with @ symbol. This is my only way to get back in touch with you to send you your prize.

Three, contest ends May 31st at 5:00 pm Central time.

Four, if I come up with a variations of something someone else post. Partial credit will be given on my site, but no gift card or PayPal credit will be givien.

Yudelka, well it's great to have you aboard. If you win a Walmart gift card it is.

MagniGraphiques.com (magnificient graphiques with a French twist. Graphiques.com's already taken).

The site suggested these;

YourGraphiques.com
BestGraphiques.com
SuperGraphiques.com
GraphiquesSite.com

But maybe you don't like the French twist. Now if you have French blood, it might just work.

Hey, how about these:
KermitDesigns.com
KermitGraphiques.com

This is a lot of fun. It reminds me of the time hubby and I were coming up with his company name. He refused to give me credit, claiming that he'd created it himself. A man's crutch is his bad memory!

I like those ideas and I'm glad you are enjoying the challenge.

I have a concern about alternate spellings. I want to be able to say my domain name (or have others repeat it as a referral). I am afraid I'd end up having to spell it for people too often or loose jobs because someone could not remember how to spell the URL.

Kermitgrn has a similar problem. I'd need to register kermitgreen as well and I'm leary of trademark enfringement. Am I picky or what?

No worries about credit. Someone will get credit and at the rate you are going it will probably be you.

Well, I got busy yesterday and forgot to post the winner. There's another reason for not posting. Nobody won. Not even me. I've decided on another name that doesn't follow the rulz. Sorry, but it just happened that way. I'll announce it later. I need to do some checking in Florida to make sure the business name does not have any conflicts and I'm waiting to hear from an individual that will basically be funding this enterprise. I'll keep you posted. So, YUDELKA, you want some credit anyway? You at least played the game.

Yudelka said...

Sure, Kermit! I'll take free credit anytime I can get it.
