Keeping My Feelers Out

I found out yesterday that one of the three contracts within my company went belly-up. Fortunately, it wasn't the one I work on.

However, it was the one Larissa works on. But, she should be alright in the shake-up. She is WAY too knowledgable for them to let go. But, many others aren't going to be so lucky.

As a result, I've been looking around and putting out my feelers on other employment opportunities. I was sort of offered a positiong with the State of Alabama not long ago, so I'm looking into that and checking other options as well. I just don't want to get caught in some weird domino effect. You never know what might happen.

It's the world of contracting and the ball bounces...

You should always be looking. Once you stop, things start happening that you may not realize because you’re not as attuned to the possibilities. I’ve got some evening edits next week which means that I’ll be working a bit later, during those times while I’m off in the morning I’m going to talk to some other production houses.

Keep those feelers out there. Before our last visit to Montgomery I considered making time to interview at a local news station just sort of because. Once I spent a little bit of time in your traffic I’m glad I didn’t follow up on the interview, what a mess.

I had a brief interview with a Montgomery company today. The pay was way below what I'm looking for, but it was nice to hear back from the many applications I've put out there.

You must have been on the bypass, Mullins.

I can tell you one thing for sure, Montgomery traffic is nothing compared to Nashville, Atlanta, or Augusta. I manage to avoid most of it...

I look around every now and then to see what's out there. But, you have to be careful about switching jobs too often. Looks very bad on a resume.

But, if I get another job for the pay I want, I'll gladly move on. I like working here with these folks, but I have to make sure those regular payhcecks and benefits keep rolling.

Take the job and come on down, Brew! What company was it with?

Yes it was the bypass, but the traffic most other places other than the road heading to the zoo were pretty harried too. I think because the majority of Montgomery travels on the same five roads all day long everything seems a bit congested.

Brew you should move to Monekytown again. That way when we figure on heading south again we can see everyone. Yes, I do think you should base your life on my potential and occasional travel plans.

Maybe the Montgomery newspaper has something open.

I hate talking about you getting a job because I feel anything I say is a nag.
