The HOLY COW Jumped Over the Moon

I'm sorry, Brew, but I had to blog this:

I was outside hanging Christmas lights after Wed night class tonight after the boys had gone to bed, when my wife sticks her head out the back door and says, "Josh, NASA just emailed and they want you to work for them..."

I asked her to repeat what she'd just said. She said it again and I asked if it was a joke or SP@M or something...

"Nope, this guy emailed you for real."

I finished up the lights and walked in, still not sure about how real this email was. When I got to the computer, there it was:

Joshua,

I came across your resume in our database and wanted to reach out to you to see if you are open to relocation to Huntsville, AL. We have a position working with NASA as an instructional design consultant that I thought you might be an excellent fit for based on your background. If you are interested please let me know and I will give you a call to discuss in more detail.

Ummmm, what the heck!?!?

This is NOT a joke. This guy is serious. He works for a company called Booz Allen Hamilton who contracts to NASA among other government entities. I told him to call me to discuss it tomorrow afternoon. Only thing is, we'd have to move to Huntsville. I called my Mom and she said that if it were her, she'd HAVE to check it out. Rachel and her folks agree.

And, after all, just because I check it out doesn't mean I have to take it. Right?

check it out for sure! If you have to move up there, at least it isnt as hot. Though, if you do work for them, youll be "Secret Sip" again and you wont be able to tell us what you do for a living.

Well, I'm off to my first interview for the day.

We still don't necessarily want to move, but if these folks make it worth my while, give me EVERYTHING in writing, etc. we will be much closer to the Mullinses and only about 3 hours from Montgomery (4 from my folks).

Talk to y'all soon!

The first round went extremely well. The interviewer told me she wanted to recommend me for the second interview halfway through...

Just got a call about a telephone interview for a Technical Learning Architect position here in Montgomery. Hopefully, I'll hear something else about that soon!

Still waiting on NASA at 1...this is crazy, man...

OK, the person who interviewed me this morning got back to me and said the pay was $13 to $14 per hour and that adding my family to the insurance would be $375 per paycheck!

I said it wasn't going to work out...

So, the list of options at the moment are:

- NASA job with BAH
- Tech Trainer with NGC
- Training Consultant with ITA
- English teacher at Lee
- English teacher at Luverne

Good grief, this is stressful!

Josh,

Sorry to get you excited about an opportunity. I just found out late yesterday that an internal candidate is being moved into the position. I will keep you in mind if anything else comes available. We are growing rapidly so I suspect there will be additional opportunities down the road.

Best of luck with you job search and please let me know if I can assist you in any other way.

Regards,

Will

This dude totally played with my emotions...ugh...

The 14th is my last day here. But, my severence, vacation, etc. will reach out for a couple of months.

Fortunately, I still have several leads.

all employers play with peoples emotions. Just change your attitude internally. On the outside, appear anxious and excited in the interview... on the inside, know that if their friends son needs a job out of college and he has no experience, the son will get hired.

Never assume youll get any job you interview for, no matter what they tell you, but keep a happy medium between optimism and pesimism (spelling?). you are a happy, possitive person and Id hate these interviews and let-downs to change that about you.

Who was that email from? what job offering was it with?

Whenever you need a pipe night, let me know.

The email was from a recruiter with Booz Allen Hamilton...

He saw my resume in their database and emailed me about the job. I hadn't even applied for that job. I think I must have applied for another one with them, but my resume stuck out to him anyway.

It was just cool to be asked about a job out of the blue like that. I don't feel negative about it at all. I look at it as another stumbling block God has removed from my path to the job He has for me.

Also, I will be even more excited about my interview in Luverne this way!
