Burns, Carlin, Mullinz.

So the subject of motivation was sort of broached discussing the horrible missed opportunity of Jamison doing nothing with his illustrating talents. Considering myself somewhat picky in the world of artsy things there are very few things that are so simple and can actually make me break a smile than his this style of cartooning. BTW I’ve added your Hippo to my web shots screen saver.

At any rate this is about me… Eventually I get tired of things, actually I get pretty fed up quickly sometimes, somewhere my beautiful wife is nodding. On a professional front this happens about every 12 days. Out of this I’ve attempted some projects. The golf thing is sitting in a financial black hole and other ideas have been shelved, adjusted and are pending. I’m talking to two different people on Friday about work prospects. I pushed myself and am still slated to go to Africa in July to do some producing. It’s happened again.

I’ve got an old friend who has been doing some MC work at a local comedy club. Actually I know that Jamison and Brew met this guy when he showed up in Montgomery on a cook out night, his name is Josh Phillips. We’ve had some falling outs and have managed to still talk with each other from time to time. Anyway, A local comedy club guy had an idea and asked a mutual friend of his and Josh’s, a guy named Blake Clark http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0163703/ , for some help. Blake’s first recommendation was Josh. The club guy contacted Josh and asked him if he might be interested in something. After agreeing, Josh was asked if he knew anyone else that might be a natural fit for this little venture. The first words out of his mouth were “M… Mullinz!”

April 29th I’m going to be doing a segmented 20 minutes of stand up and shtick for a local comedy club’s kid’s night. It’s the club’s first venture into this world and there is no way to know how this stuff is going to be received but when I met with the club guy he was far more impressed with me than Josh. Josh did some old puppet stuff which was more like a class than a gag and I was just joking with the guy and doing pretty well. I’m going to do some clown stuff along with some guitar improve junk I used to do back in the day.

Anyway, this will be a real paying gig on a stage and I’ve got no idea what I’m going to do. I know a few physical gags but who knows what else might happen?

The point is this, I could have said no and backed away without interest but I would have always wondered what might have happened. This could be a one shot deal or a once a month deal, which the club will determine. Don’t let these gifts pass you guys by. Sipper you wrote your book and you’re getting some nibbles, I’ve been a goofy dork for a long time and it might finally pay off for at least one night. Each of you guys has a gift follow you heart and hunt that illusive thing you want. Sometimes you have to get it like my trip to Africa sometimes if you do something long enough it comes to you.

Someday you'll be old and can't do what you can now and wonder what you were so afraid of. Plus Sipper and I are going to be tired of you guys riding around on our coat tails.

I would add..."And don't quit!"

I wrote a book, have tried to sell it, wrote a second book and will try to get it out soon, and have started a third book.

If you have a love for something, keep it alive. Be tenacious. And be persistent.

I've been rejected by so many publishers and agents that I've lost count. But, I won't give in. I'll try till I die.

Keep going Mullinz!!! I'm proud of you, man.

JS said...

wow... that is really cool. If anyone can pull it off, id say it is Mullins...

ironically, another one of my half @$$ projects is writing some standup material.

I come up with stuff, and mention it sometimes. If it gets a good laugh, I write it down. Some of the ideas are hidden in the closet in the home office under my hat on a piece of paper that is turned face-down.

kermitgrn said...

Pleaz have them tape it. I want a copy, because I know it will be great. And worth a heck-of-a-lot of money one day.

bigsip said...

Yeah, gimme a copy, too. A first edition recording of Mullinz probably will bring the big bucks one day...

Mat Brewster said...

We should also not judge our success by physical things, like money or fame.

That's super cool Mullins, I wish I could be there. If nothing else it will be a spectacular failure. And I'm sure you'll have a blast doing it.

But if someone offered me the gig I'd turn it down and not look back. I don't have the personality for standup and have no desire to do that.

Take sipper, he's written two novels. Should he consider himself a failure for not having been on the best sellers list? Or having not been publihsed? No. It is an accomplishment having written the books.

If I am satisfied by building kitchen tables then that's awesome.

I'm rather proud of my blog. Yes it needs some cosmetic design work, no I don't get very many readers. But I get a great deal of satisfaction knowing that for over a year I have regularly added some very well written pieces and then published them for cyberspace. I submit many things to blogcritics where it gets a large readership, and have been chosen and highlighted by the editors there many times.

Why right now my wilco review is highlighted on their front page.

Will it make me famous or rich? No. Does it make me happy and give me a sense of accomplishment? absolutely

bigsip said...

Good points, Brew.

I completely agree!

JS said...

put me on the "I want a tape" list please

mullinz8 said...

I don’t know if this thing will be taped or not. If it is then I’ll make sure that no one else ever sees it.

I agree. For Sipper the success is having written the books, if one or both of them should be published then it’s nothing but gravy. For me it’s still out there too.

Success should be gauged by the happiness one finds in the project, job, hobby, or what ever it is.

I just want to try and encourage people to do what they like and are interested in. I like to hear about people doing things that make them happy. There is so much that makes me happy and so much that I wish I could do that I just don’t have time for.

More than anything else I hope you all have something to do to keep your heart content.
This thing is something of an experiment for me going in and once upon a time doing stuff like this was like reading a good book, painting a picture or anything else.

I wouldn’t suggest that anyone do something like stage work unless it’s for you. I hope you guys aren’t missing my point.

mullinz8 said...

I guess the other thing is that I’m not a status quo type of person. I have always wanted to see what else is out there that I can do.

I like to do “things.” I don’t want to force my lifestyle on someone else but I like going a mile a minute.

I guess it’s like someone asking Brew to review a new book or Jamison to be a fishing guide for a day.

kermitgrn said...

Listen to the man..."don't know if it's going to be taped or not." Hah, The man has 3 kazillion cameras at his disposal and doesn't know if it's going to be taped.

On the other vien, Success is what you make of it. Brew, you say you'll never get notariety. That may not be true. Keep it up and you could be the next big movie critic. You never know. All of us at one point or another felt that Mullinz would eventually hit paydirt. This may be his shot.

Me on the other hand. I'm content to hang back and watch my friends make it big. Then I'll ride on your coat tails, throw wild parties with your money, and drink/do drugs in self pity (also w/ your money).

I have too much to do this weekend.

I think I need to start culling a few things. Seems stuff tends to all pile up at once.

Ah well, such is life...

JS said...

me and you both Sip...

But, do you know what I think everytime ly life gets busy?

I was in an auto parts shore in Chattanooga one time. I ran over a nail just as I set out to come back to montgomery, so I was ticked off...

As me and the wife stood in the checkout line to pay for the tire plug, a black couple was behind us (Late 40s to early 50s). The man was buying stuff for his car and the wife was teasing him saying how he is always doing something to the car, the house, etc.

He said simply "I'll rest in the grave!"

I've always remembered that and it really really inspired me. It is so true! Why do I want to rest here on earth when Heaven is going to be one big nap-fest if I want it to be?

...of course if doing too much stuff gets in the way of family and/or friends (or our relationship with God) then it is time to cut back.

But, thought I would share that inspiring story. It was soon-there-after that I was determined to travel alot more. Sure traveling is exhausting, but I am only here for about another 50 or 60 years... after that I can rest :)

bigsip said...

Good point. I just miss my family.

This whole week has been one thing after another.

I got to see Luke for maybe 1 hour total yesterday. There's something wrong with that.

I'll just be glad when this weekend is over with.

Hopefully, I'll get to spend a good part of Sat afternoon with Rachel and Luke, though.

I don't feel much satisfaction in life when I don't get the amount of family time I and they need.

But, I am glad to do some things that are good.

It just happened that this weekend got full fast. Nobody's fault, just happened that way.

I think next weekend will be better.

I'll be saying "No" to stuff for next weekend, except for mowing my yard...

Another reason I try not to spread myself thin has to do with some Bible wisdom:

Ecclesiastes 4:4-8 Then I saw all the labor and achievement that is the envy of a man's neighbor. This also is vanity and a striving after wind. The fool folds his hands together and ruins himself. Better is a handful, with quietness, than two handfuls with labor and chasing after wind. Then I returned and saw vanity under the sun. There is one who is alone, and he has neither son nor brother. There is no end to all of his labor, neither are his eyes satisfied with wealth. For whom then, do I labor, and deprive my soul of enjoyment? This also is vanity, yes, it is a miserable business.

Psalm 90:10 The days of our years are seventy, or even by reason of strength eighty years; yet their pride is but labor and sorrow, for it passes quickly, and we fly away.

Ecc 2:20-23 is another good passage.

There are many other passages I have seen, but what it comes down to is that we can spend all our time trying to do stuff or be something and it's all in vain.

I mean, God gave us days of rest for a reason. I just want to make sure I get to use mine being wiwth my loved ones.

Fortunately, Jamison, you're one of them and I'll get to hang with you during some of the labor we perform which is not in vain. And that's a blessing!

I always hate following sound Biblical advice.

I think success is personal. I think I’ve done ok in TV but I know I’m successful as a father, at least so far and if I leave the world with that, I’ll go out happy.

Brew I think you should consider your self successful. You’re ability to communicate, style and perspective are very impressive. We’re just your loser friends and we love what you write, more than that the online community is recognizing your talent too. One thing I think that gets missed in the world of success is that very few people in their early 30’s and late 20’s are “successful” by societies standards.

You might think of this as a bit odd but it’s true. This Sunday morning tape the TV show CBS Sunday Morning, this is my all time favorite show. There is a guest commentator from Rolling Stone who does their music and some media reviews and when ever I see this guy I think of you. I have no doubt that you could do the guys job.

Should you try for a gig at Rolling Stone, that’s up to you? Do what makes you happy. I’m trying to be encouraging damn it!

Again it’s about perspective. I’d rather be successful as a father than a producer but having both would be nice.

bigsip said...

Amen, brother!

I'd rather be a successful husband and father than anything.

I think it's true that you can be that and be successful (in what ever way) at your occupation. But, it takes strength of will, good organization, and prioritization to the Nth degree.

Doable, but not easy I'd think.

mullinz8 said...

As a side note I would like to provide a comfortable life for my family and that does require work. I would be just as happy as a modern day homesteader as a producer but each one will require me to work and push myself to maintain an acceptable living standard for my family.
Jules would not like being a dirt farmers wife and I want her to be happy too.

There is one last point that I would like to make. I like to work. I love the stress of putting a project together and making something from nothing. I like doing a lot of different stuff.

It’s the exact same situation as Jamison’s story. Someday I’ll be old and won’t be able to try the things I want and it might be disappointing. I don’t like things but I love experiences.

My goal is this, I work hard and my family and I play harder all of this under the umbrella of faithful, thankfulness to my God.

Goals and ambition are good things and like anything else (drinking, drugs, cars, homes, families, wealth, status, fishing boats, blogs, performing, singing, exercising etc etc) as long as it doesn’t get in between me and my God I ain’t got no issues with success no matter the measure.

mullinz8 said...

I love the commercials but God never gave us an easy button.

bigsip said...

I agree. As long as it doesn't offend God, it's fine.

That's why I follow what He said in Ecclesiastes. No need in making my life vanity in His eyes.

So Jamison and I are in the middle of our quarterly email frenzy when he mentions plans to see his friend Matt in his debut stand-up performance. He also mentions, in an off-hand manner, this same person went to clown college. Sweet pail of fun in a bucket.

At first I thought he was lying. Clown college. Okay, right. But he ellaborates, describing dormside fire juggling and laughter galore. How is it I never saw any of this the entire time I worked there? I am sad.

However, I did not come here for that purpose. I came to wish you piles of luck during your performance Matthew. I wish I could come with Jamison. I told him we would make t-shirts and bring giant foam fingers.

And not to sound like a motivational poster, but don't ever stop pursuing your dreams.

"Let my inspiration flow, in token lines suggesting rhythm, that will not forsake me, till my tale is told and done.”

Thanks Sipalicious. Still writing but lots more work to be done with edits and such before I have something cohesive. Time is my biggest issue and life seems to suck it up constantly. In-laws in horrible car accident, husband always out of town, me having wads of ADD, homeschooling, teenage son: all make it hard to carve out minutes and one does need to relieve ones bladder occasionally. I shan’t give up and press forward…

From what I read, you are kicking it!

Do you get Writer's Digest by any chance?

That magazine is excellent for those of the writerly persuasion. I also frequent the Writer's Digest forums online. Great place to learn more about the art/craft and meet tons of other writers.

Anyway, I need to relieve my bladder, so I'll wish you luck and go urinate...Cheers!

mullinz8 said...

Computer Lady, many thanks. It’s funny because I wasn’t nervous until Jamison said he was coming up to see the show. I’d love to have everyone I know show up but until I can comp everyone so tickets and I’m playing in a much cooler venue like the Lincoln Center know that you’re good tiding and wishes will suffice in the meantime.

“Dormside Fire Juggling”

I’m sure many of the regulars saw this but for those of you who didn’t I’ll fill you in from the beginning. Out of Clown College I had decent juggling skills with clubs and balls, which I’d been playing with since puberty (ha!).

I had ordered some torches but in CC had never done any fire work so the whole thing was new to me when they arrived at FU all bright, white and shiny. Realizing our dorm mother was exactly that, I went to our Dean of Students to get cleared for developing a fire routine: Life lesson one, always go to the top first. Our little Dean was a former Marine drill sergeant and though he could be a pain, if you positioned your self in just the right light you could use the Jedi mind trick on him and get away with just about anything. I explained I was, as he knew, not a traditional student, had been professionally trained with fire at CC and most importantly, wouldn’t hold the school responsible for anything if I got hurt. He gave me the all’s clear and I proceeded to the location of many a mischief making the large yard behind our dorms.

I dipped the first torch in the Colman lamp fuel, shook off the excess and patted the flames. It was really a rush and very exciting. I had my hair tied back in a red bandanna and began tossing the torch around a bit. I juggled with the one torch and come clubs with moderate success not fully realizing that I could touch the lit part of the torch yet.

I tested touching the flame and catching the flame end of the torch; you have to learn how to overcome the fear of the fire and decided it was time to move a bit further with my instruction. Again this was the first time I had the torches and the first time I had ever used fire. Obviously after 30 minutes I was ready to eat the fire. I refueled a torch, lifted it into the air and brushed my tongue across its surface. I was still alive. I tried it again. After a few passes I decided to see if I could stick the thing into my mouth. It had been about 40 minutes after having lit the first torch. I realized quickly that there were two screws holding the wick onto the torch when I was catching the fire side. As I’m leaning my head back to place this ball of fire into my mouth all I’m doing is thinking about my position, where my body is, what it’s doing, which way is the wind blowing, how high is the flame, when I relax for a split second realizing half the wick is in my mouth. To see a bit better I adjust my head a fraction, to this day I still have a small scar in the very back of my throat where one of the screw tops burnt my gum.

It really hurt but I was out there for the rest of the week practicing. I even left a few other people play with my fire though most weren’t up to dealing with me yet.

I’ll tell the Zeta mixer party another time, the pruds…

“Sipalicious” some how I’m oddly turned on…

mullinz8 said...

That was "prudes", oops.

I've always been one to follow "a rare and different tune."

I wish I could juggle fire. You are fabulous.

Do you remember that other woman who worked with Herman? I think she was the assistant…she absolutely hated me. She tried to have me banned from wearing mini skirts on campus.

Good luck firestarter...don't take any wooden nickels.

Heather

Thanks for the Terrapin reference…that beautiful song was how the Dead pulled me into their enchanting world. I was in a boarding school in upstate NY. About a year into my stay, I managed to smuggle a bootleg and a walkman into the dorm (we weren’t allowed to have music). Terrapin helped me get through another year of hell in that place.

JS said...

Dean Donna... I was not a fan of hers in the least bit. Wonderful woman in real life I am sure, but I really really disliked her whilst in her position... God forgive me.

I was intro'ed to the dead by Mulls... I drank more margaritas at thoe Further festivals than I did in a year... "Do you want a miracle? JESUS LOVES YOU!", Pot joint on our blanket, "cat hat man!", etc... I was a poser, but Id like to think I was a good one.

Brew, if you have the lyrics to "Posin" you wrote about me, please post them. Sung to the tune of "Truckin"

bigsip said...

Funny story about DD that might be considered disgusting...

She loved me. I don't know why, but she did.

I was a chapel checker and worked in Dean H's office on occasion. One day, she was talking to me and said, "If I were 20 years younger, I'd be on you like white on rice."

I didn't know whether to be flattered or run screaming from the building, so I sat there and smiled uncomfortably while she gave me her best sexy smirk.

Anyway, glad she didn't get your miniskirts banned, Heather.

mullinz8 said...

xsuI would have never banned you from wearing mini-skirts. In fact I wouldn’t have required you to wear skirts at all. (Jules rolls her eyes and Jamison says “classic Mullins”)

Terrapin Station as an album has never been one of my favorites but much like you, in bootleg form the song its self is a work of art. I just got the tablature for guitar and at first glance it’s daunting but it’s really a pleasure to play.

To me that song was Jerry. There are versions where, just as in life, it’s a bouncy and faster journey into a new experience while some shows play out like a long awaited mournful return to something familiar and comforting.

At FU the one thing that I made sure to bring were my bootlegs. Brew has since, quite generously, sent me several shows on CD and I’ve got a comfortable collection. Now I’ve got over a dozen downloaded show from 65 to 95 in my iTunes along with scads of GDM albums that cycle through my head everyday.

The Dead were my life line for a long time. The jams and stories are so wonderfully consuming that it’s a wonderful way to get lost in your own mind. My first exposures to the Dead were from bootlegs and I was luckily enough to get some really sweet shows that were swirling currents of sound when the band was in peak form. Through highs and lows that sound was always there for me.

I think about getting a tattoo sometimes, the wife has two, but nothing really appeals to me except maybe the full skull and roses image or the steal your face thing. I know Sipper doesn’t feel music so deeply but that’s the extent this band has effected me.

Jamison, when we went to Further Fest did you have fun? If you did then you’re aren’t the poser you think you are. For a lot of people the community is just as important as the music, if you had fun then you were catching the right waves.

JS said...

Oh man, Sip, I am gonna hurl... I hate those "If I were 20 years younger" lines...

Mullins, I had a WONDERFUL time at the further fests... i had never danced in my life and they were perfect for me because I could pretty much do anythign I wanted and everyone was cool with it. I "Grooved" for like 8 hours straight, barefoot... twas fun. Ok, then mabe I am not a poser...

HOWEVER, if you will remember, my interest in hippie shirts, patches, and stickers on my car came shortly after the arrival of the red Hyundai driven by the C.L.

I Studied those stickers from afar and came to you, Mulls, for information relating to them. You took me under your wing and taught me the ways of hippie-dome, all so I could appear hip to the computer lady... is that fake or what????

bigsip said...

"I know Sipper doesn’t feel music so deeply..."

Mullins, this remark really hurt my feelings.

I almost wrote a 1,500 word diatribe explaining how much I love music, but that I'm not a "follower", but thought better of it.

I "feel" music. I love music on a subatomic level, man. It hurts that anyone who knows me would think otherwise.

mullinz8 said...

Because we’re all involved in our lives with wives, kids and the such I don’t mind saying this but I would have help a brother do just about anything for some crumpet.

I would also consider that recon more than anything else. The military does the same thing so I’m just playing out the Uncle Sam roll for a friend. That’s also the first step in checking someone, anyone, out. You have to find their interests. If you see someone driving down the road with a “W” sticker you can hedge your bets that person is not a Hispanic, left handed, lesbian, albino, Jew.

If you see a Dead sticker you can go two ways either that person likes the cute little bears or they are into the music. With one or two questions you can sort the poser from the head.

Btw Computer Lady needs a pic. So does Ryan for that matter.

mullinz8 said...

I didn’t mean that to say you don’t like music or feel music, poorly chosen words. I know that you love it.

It’s just, as you’re said, that you don’t get behind the scene into the people making the music, at least contemporary stuff and I sure as the world wouldn’t expect you to get ink stating “Mozart Rocks!” In that subject line I figured, having been around this block more than once, you knew what I was talking about. Some bands have a very communal feeling to them because they have their own baggage, in a good way. Dead Heads talk about feeling the music differently because for many of them it’s not just the sound it’s the people you meet along the way who you trade shows, stories and memories with.

Sorry again for the poor wording, no offence was directed towards you as a person who doesn’t “feel” music, follower of the scene is a good term to use.

bigsip said...

OK, that makes sense. Thanks, man.

I'm pretty sensitive about music. I don't just love music, I know it. It lives in my soul. I hear it all the time in my mind.

Everything I do has a soundtrack of my own design.

I know that sounds crazy, but ever since I can remember, I've never been alone. Music's always been my friend, no matter what.

Thanks for clearing up what you meant. I'm simply not a fan. Not a follower. And that's fine with me.

JS said...

I dont want to get into another discussion about the bastardization of music again...

Ironically, "bastard" was the first word Computer Lady ever heard come out of my mouth. I said it to make her laugh, all I got was a cold stare from her for about 2 seconds and a disapproving look from Dr Mowrer. Though J Gordon found it to be hilariously good comedic timing.

Today the word makes her laugh like an irish lass sittong on a toadstool, but then she was a 90s-business-woman poser!!!

heatherhullabaloo said...

...ShakkaSip, heads can get pretty intense sometimes...

I love how music threads through our lives. It is interesting is how my choices affect my children and their musical tastes. I exposed my son Thomas to many different kids of music when he was little, that his musical tastes today span a dizzying array of genres. He is the only 14 year-old in his school (where they all listen to booty music or country) with Janis Joplin, Cat Stevens, Bob Marley and Peal Jam all on his mp3 player. 'Tis grand! He likes some Dead but I think being around so many hippies and Rainbow probably overexposed him some. He loved drum circles though. One of my favorite pictures is a 4 year-old Thomas in the middle of a drum circle banging on a djembe.

Thanks for the skirt support. However, after an accident in David Short's office, I was ultimately banned from wearing skirts on campus...through the evil doings of vp Wilma.

I miss my little red car...although I guess a 4:20 sticker isn't really appropriate anymore.

bigsip said...

Oh, now you've done it!

JS said...

i heard the Short story... if i remember correctly, she basically mooned him... could be remembering wrong...

bigsip said...

If anyone in the universe ever needed to be mooned, it's David Short.

Good going, Heather!

heatherhullabaloo said...

I don't know if I should put this story here. I do not want to offend anyone.

It was really an accident. How was I to know that I would need to climb under David's desk and get his computer out that day? I tried to be careful while I was under his desk, but since I hadn't done laundry, certain things were missing in my attire that day. Important attire one needs under ones’ skirt. And for some reason David, instead of going to do something else, just sat in his chair watching me work (which is kind of creepy).

David filed some sort of “I Saw Heather’s Hoo-Hoo” complaint with Wilma. Wilma called my boss in Tennessee and, since she’d been waiting for just such a moment, her list of things they didn't want me to do or say grew from just my skirt to about 12 other 'issues'.

I didn't help matters when I flew into a rage during the phone call with my boss. I told him I was not going to stop wearing skirts and he could tell Mr. Short I was waiting for a thank you card.

JS said...

Ah yes, i forgot the gem about no underwear...

...or as men call it "Free ballin' "

heatherhullabaloo said...

I should mention I don't do that anymore...

...and I couldn't have gone my whole life without knowing that terminology, Jam-Lo.

Although as soon as I read it, I immediately felt a strong urge to sing the chorus to Tom Petty's "Free Falling". That is curious, isn't it?

Mat Brewster said...

Wow you take a break for a day or two and suddnely Mullins and Sip are fighting and Compter Lady is showing off her hoo ha.

I don't know whether to be jealous or mad that you gave a show to David Short, who complained, when we would have not only not complained but probably paid for the opportunity.

And I'm freeeeeeee, freeeee ballin!

By the way CP if you have any interest in some live Grateful Dead, let me know and I can hook you up.

heatherhullabaloo said...

The computer lady rocks, talk about rebooting a hard drive! What a dork for snitching after spying the sna… Never mind. I guess it’s good to know there is a man out there that in such a situation can still think with the larger of the two heads. Excellent story!

As for the commando thing I love it. I’ll very seldom go this way at work but once I get home I change clothes anyway and that’s something I’ve got no use for. It just feels better with nothing between me and my Calvin Klein’s, nothing at all. Does anyone get that joke? I understand the chemistry differences between the sexes and can see why a lot of ladies don’t find it appealing but for guys it’s different. Anything that might be construed as feeling good down there generally gets the stamp of approval.

Jamison and his aggressive football friends all free-ballin’ after the game. I don’t think it was Jamison but I’ll bet there was some repressed frustration on those rides back to school for some of those linemen.

4:20… : o)

She’s “waiting for a thank you note” very funny.

I should pipe in here (no pun intended) whether the CL wants me to or not. In fact, she would probably prefer I not. I know my best friends on earth are not judgemental; if they were each of us would really hate each other, but I think I should say a few words about the computer lady in case some of our members start thinking bad things about our friend...

If anyone exemplifies a changed life it is a one Heather L.

Okay, so her comments make her sound like a very loose, drug addicted, freak. However, if any of you knew the Heather I know now, and you never knew the old Heather, you'd almost think they were two different people (other than the ability to make you crack up by simply said "Irish jig").

Sure, today she can laugh it up about her past life (Dont we wish we all could?) but the fact that her life has changed so much makes her an even more amazing individual. I dare say you can pull this chick away from her church for a day. If our church had 10 people like her in it, we would probably all wonder wehy we paid a preacher, or a youth minister, or a college minister... If anyone in her church, in her family, in her husband's family, or at her son's school needed anything, she does it... for free and without complaint! She has about negative 9 free hours in the day, yet manages to fill them all up in her schedual for her kids and family. I havnt laid eyes on this woman in probably 3 years because she is simply too busy! Yet she manages to send me a hilarious story about her kids ever so often, for which I am thankful.

Though she used to have 1,000 hiding places for weed, she now has them filled with kids clothes and toys. The stories she tells me about her kids are one of a kind. I tell her often that I wish she would adopt me. She tells her son I say this and he reassures me that I dont want this. But she is a great mom, even though she brags to the Winn Dixie sushi lady that her son is entering puberty...

The last person I ever thought she would marry would be Jason L. A 100% burley, country, God fearing, man. But she cant resist a good ole southern boy (Whats a yankee got that we dont?)

So, to clarify; Today, the last person on earth to wear a mini skirt with no underwear is Heather L. (Unless her husband gets a hankering for some kinky stuff, to which she would probably laugh at him). And she is the last person (well, not the last, but really close to the end of the line) to light up a joint now-days. I know it is a blast hearing outrageous stories from a woman we used to write songs about and toast our refreshing beverages to, but I will go fist-acuff with any of you who think bad or low of her (except Sip, he out-push-ups me, and not Stubbs, he would just make me laugh and then sucker-punch me, and not any of the wives of course, but I think me and Chuck would be a good rumble...). She just likes to tell stories of her past, which makes her a great dinner guest. Which, if her husband spent more that 3 days in town, would be a great idea! Though I am a clean freak and I know her kids would tear my house up... or she would...

Dude I don't think bad towards her at all. I'm all about drug references and no skivies. Seriously, I don't know Heather other than a few glimpses in college, a few made up songs about her, and whatever she writes here.

That's a lovely tribute and I'm sure she is a lovely person, but no ill will was ever sent her way due to the fun she had in the past.

I think I'll go free ballin tomorrow in honor of you, Heather.

I assume none of us would think any less of this Heather girl, but I had to stand up for her either way, before anyone thought less of her. Naturally I'd do the same, if not more so, for my 5 closest pals on earth.

I moon walk across the floor in celebration of your gallant writings, Jamison. I am often missing that essential filter which stops the brain from expulsing any and all thoughts to the general public - what I find hysterical might upset others. Since I am but a guest in your Blog of Joy, I do not want to overstep any boundaries of discretion and decorum.

Matthew, well done this weekend. I did eleven jumping jacks, three Cabbage Patch full-circles and a high-five to my dog in support of your performance. I tried to get my husband to do a breakin’ chain with me but he would not. He doesn’t share the passion for breakdancing, which is sad. Perhaps if his parents bought him the Alfonso Ribeiro breakdancing mat and step-by-step video while he was a youth, he would be right there popping and locking alongside me. However my son Thomas did attempt what I think was The Worm. It ended up looking more like Hump the Living Room Carpet but I applauded his enthusiasm.

FunkyFreshBrew - thanks for keeping things loose tomorrow. Perhaps, with enough support (or lack of support) it will become a federal holiday. They'll have to pay through the nose to get rights to Tom's song but who doesn't want to see those commercials celebrating American's day of breaking out the juggle nuts?

Brew, dont free ball... everyone can see it. And if you get a raise at work (monitarily or sexually... your boss does have a daughter on "Girls Gone Wild") the entire office staff will know. Free ballin is easily detectable and is ussually practiced by pedophiles. I do not support the legislation to make it a holiday.

See what I mean about heather? She posted something that could have been written in 3 sentences but she keeps me laughing with ridicuous dance references. I have no idea if they are true or not but I picture every bit of it happening!

Pepsi commercials, "Silver Spoon", breakdancing, then, fresh prince of bel aire.

FYI Heather. We are all pretty teritorial when it comes to our blog. Brew mostly. If he accepts your comments in the blog you are welcome to comment. Though, only lifetime members and spouces of the midnight cafe and ACPO members can post blogs. Youll have to get your own blog if you wanna post topics. Youa re wlecome to comment on OTHER topics... this one has almost run its course. Going to try and get Mullins' movies up today. Heather, got any webspace I can barrow?

Heather, you're a bresh or freth air...

Nice pic!

I never thought anything bad about her, ever. She always smiled and was nice at FU.

Of course, I had my own lusts to control back then, so I might have thought a few "bad" things about her, maybe...

I'll stop now.

JS said...

I never saw her smile at ME!!!!

Maybe she spent time in France. Brew says that smiling at someone in France is considered a sexual advancement. Maybe she didn't want to smile too much for fear to the Short.

I had a run in with his wife ironically back in my days. I was protesting the $5 mailbox deposit that they never gave back to you at the end of the year.

I would go to her counter every day for the first month of school and ask for my mail, claiming i lost my key. It got to the point where i would only ask her assistants and not her.

One day, I asked one of her assistants and they came back and said "hold on" then the Short wife went to her desk, pulled MY MAIL out of HER DESK and handed it to me, I said "You are keeping my mail in your desk?" She gave me some answer that didnt please me after which I LIT into her, like I never have before. I mean, I was ranting and raving, she was throwing it right back at me.

A day later, Dean Donna (Rolling eyes) told me that the SHort wife reported things I had said to her. I passingly said "It was the irish in me coming out." To which the Dean said "Go apologize to her..."

CRAP!

So I did, and paid the $5 mailbox deposit... but they should give it BACK to you at the end of the year, not credit your $9,000 tuition the $5!!!!

bigsip said...

Now they have combination boxes, so no more keys for which to deposit...

Who is thinking bad thought about our lovely guest?

I’ve never seen the girl in real life that I can remember and have no opinion of her aside from her being a friend of my friend (like I’ve said here a friend of a friend is a friend of mine), a good contributor to this group, friendly, open, respectful and someone who can tell a good story, laugh at them selves and doesn’t take their past too seriously. All that said, I’m glad she’s here.

Computer Lady welcome to it! Please continue to contribute to the fold and flock of our little community.

On drug references, really guys… Most of us fall into the, its-your-business-but-who-cares-and-don’t-let-it-become-the-focus-of-your-life-because-there-are-much-more-important-things-out-there mindset though we balance the conservative to very liberal scales with respect to each other as individuals.

Loose, who said anything about her being loose?

Hoping to move up to the position of professional beach bum someday I don’t care about what or how much of anything you wear. This is like calling us gay because we’ve seen each others schlong peeing outside.

Lets not be in danger of taking ourselves too seriously now. Who hasn’t come to this blog without baggage and stories to tell? Some stories are a bit more extreme than others but these stories are glimpses into who we are not the whole of who we are.

You’re a good man Jamison and I appreciate and respect your words but more than that I hope no one has decided to cast stones at our new pal Heather.

Heather, thanks for the clowning support I’m going to send out the poster the Comedy Zone made up or blog it soon for everyone to see. It was a blast.

I too have performed the humping the carpet break dance, sadly the carpet never called me afterwards.

bigsip said...

I used to do a great "worm". But, I always thought it was called the "dolphin".

Never could spin on my head, though.

JS said...

knee spin was a classic starting move into the breakdancing realm... i picture me just being the guy who brings the ghetto blaster to the party so everyone can dance to some good tunes. Ill just stand by it and do the robot while everyone else dances...

I for the movie on my computer now... waiting for Heather to find me some webspace, if she's got it.

Mat Brewster said...

The dashboard stuff is still there, so I can put it back up some where hopefully. I've been wanting to move out of bloggers space for awhile, so I guess this is my opportunity.

I've heard blogger support is ridiculously awful.

bigsip said...

Get it out of there ASAP, Brew!

I'm breathing a short sigh of relief for you, but you never know what might happen!

Let us know when you get set up elsewhere, my friend!

blogger seems slow and down at least 25% of the time...

Did you guys know that Sonny Burch used to be in a break dancing group? With matching parachute pant outfits. I love him for it.

JS said...

Heather would be comment number 69... See? I have to stand up for her AGAIN!!!

What was Sonnys dance name?
Sonny-Nipple-3?
3 Nipples and Son?
NipNipNip?

(Sonny has three nipples, Heather reminded me of this recently)

bigsip said...

Dude, that's just gross...

JS said...

Body anomalies may be gross to some, but we all have them. Embrace them. Love them (Well, love your own, not others).

I will stck up for tri-nippled people throughout the world. I will fight tooth-and-nail for their equal rights.

bigsip said...

I didn't mean just Sonny's nipples...I don't want to think about his body, period!

Three nipples just tops it off...

JS said...

I have seen the man we speak of shirtless... the first thing I thought of (at the time, i am sure he is fit and trim now) was "E.T.!"

"He looks like E.T., bless his heart..."
