my homegirl

Yeah this is me and Food Network star Paula Deen chilling out. I spent a day shooting her and Bobby Flay in some tailgating cook off stunt. Al Roker was slated to be on set but with an unscheduled back surgery Paula had to take his place. It was a fun day and Paula each time we shot together was very cool. We had to steal her and Flay inbetween the larger shoots segment tapings for various PSA's and promos.

Cool! Mullins, hobnobbin with the stars as usual. Sounds like you had a great time. Does she have a regular show? I know Flay's name. Saw him on Iron Chef America once. Seems like a nice guy.

she has a show called paula deen's home cookin'.
she also owns a restaraunt in savannah with her 2 sons. i love her show because her recipes are easy enough for the "lay person" to do.

Cool...Man, I'd love to take a trip to Savannah sometime! Mullins, talk to your new ladyfriend there. Hook us up! J/K, man. But, I would still love to go there and sample her cuisine!

Sorry, Julianna...should have been, "Cool WOMan"

Her show is awesome... if you like very fatty sounthern food... im willing to bet Bobby Flay was a pure jerk wad...

The resturant show owns with her two sons is called "two sons" i think... isnt it?

Flay's a New Yorker...He probably was a bit brash. Was he a Prima Donna, Mullins?

from what matt told me, yeah Flay was a typical egocentrical "star" but he really sang paula deen's praises. said she was nice and down to earth.
there's something to be said for us southern girls!

i love that standard Mullins hig, smile, and point pose. It is so classic Mullins! And Deen looks like the kind of gall where Mullins could say or do anything nutty and she would laugh and laugh, rather than look at him with a "who is this clown?" expression

Did I mention her other hand was squeezing my cute behind.

Mullisn, if you are serious about what Flay said ill knock him out if i ever meet him...

been to savannah and we hated it, but it would have been alot more fun if we were with friends... we ate at some place on an island that $40 a day lady went to, it was AWESOME

Rachel has been to Savannah a few times and loved it. I've heard it has a similar "charm level" to New Orleans.

Speaking of NO, it looks like they might get more hurricane weather! oy!

Flay never said anything really bad but his attitude was really curt and to the point of being reluctantly thankful. I got the feeling that he’d rather be doing body shots off of a drunk 18 year girl.
Wait so would I, so much for working today!

WIFE, I'M JUST KIDDING...

Mullins Gone Wild!!! Just don't release the hooters, my friend. Snoop Gog might try to hump you.

I read on Smokinggun.com this morning the Hooter’s handbook. I was shocked to see that it didn’t have any pictures and was actually around eight pages in length. I now have to “try” one of these fine establishments since the constantly referred to the waitresses positions as a “fantasy.” I will feast on hot wings next week and sample the fine attributes of the strictly regulated hooters.

it is a hit or miss resturant...
the only way they will sit in your lap or act like they are interested in you is if you act like you actually find them attractive... or offer a big tip...
wings are good, burgers fall apart in your hands... worthless..

went more times than i would have liked to when i wored at my last place of business. the owner of the mobile branch was a womanizer and i guess it made him feel more like a man to see women in 1982 clothes with average sized breasts... and eat so-so food.

HAHA...great description, Jamison. Hooters isn't that great. I must agree. I've eaten there twice and both times didn't think the girls were very attractive. I suppose it was the college boy in me wanting to ogle some chicks. Of course, I was in college...

Cool pick mulls. I honestly didn't know who the girl was, but they didn't have food TV in France....

The couple of times I've had Hooters I enjoyed the food, and the view. But neither was enough to have brought me back in many a year.

There is a new girl at work that I trained and have become some what of a friend too. She's 18 and I've grown to feel some sort of responsibility towards, like she's a sister or something.

Anyways she wore a hooters shirt the other day and I was literally offended. I half argued with her about it and she gave the typical, they have good food response.

I didn't say it but there is certainly a sexuality to that restraunt. Good food or not, the waitresses wear clothing that says something suggestive, and owl or no owl its all about the tits.

Weird that another one of my reps wore the same shirt a few days later and I thought nothing of it.

Anyone else get weird fatherly feelings towards your staff?

i had a fatherly feeling towards my 7th period assistant that graduated last year. I had known him since he was a freshman and i hated him then, mainly because his daily goal was to see what he could hack into and show up his computer skills with.

By the time he was my assistant, I trusted him enough to be in charge when i was not at work... even giving him administrative passwords and access to our firwewall...

For me it is a little different.

Trainees are always interesting. They are just hired so they want to do a good job. I'm the boss so they definitely want to do everything I say. Unlike the veterens they haven't grown cynical to everything.

There is a power feeling that comes with training. Even weeks after initial training, these guys come to me with questions.

with this particular girl something just kind of clicked between us. Actually I think it was the fact she wore a Grateful Dead t-shirt in training that made me like her.

Anyways I just have this sort of paternal thing going like I want to take care of her. But because she's my employee the relationship gets weird.

Which actualy happens all the time. I'm always afraid of being sued for harassment, or having something taken out of context and getting hit with any number of lawsuits. So when I feel a particular fondness for a rep, I usually have to take several steps back.

And of course now I'm planning this pumpkin carving party, and wondering if I should invite any reps. The whole work/personal relationship is daunting. Maybe I'll make a full post of that issue...

Ah, the travails of responsibility. I have very little of this at my current job. But, I've had lots of it in the past. Obviously, as a husband and father, I feel the weight in many different ways. But, this does tend to carry over into the work place. You want t be a god example, give good advice, etc. I think I'll post something about this. I have a couple of stories that might relate.

ill assume her being a girl makes it more confusing...?

Mat Brewster said...

The girl factor is certainly a big one. Admittedly there is some sexual tension between us.

Don't get me wrong, I love my wife and have absolutely no intentions of doing anything to hurt her.

However it is kind of nice to have a cute girl smiling at me. Yet it also makes my job a little difficult at times.

Brew... been there.

Dont let anyone tell you that you are a bad hubby because you find a girl attractive and get a thrill out of having her at your beckon call...

my biggest tip on earth for this situation;
Love it, but dont ever get in a room alone with her. Even if nothing ever happened, rumors would start.

Mat Brewster said...

Oh, I'm definitely careful. She did manage to lunch with me, but that was a fluke. She happened to go to the same place me and a couple of pals were eating at so we invited her over.

I'm careful to not pay too much attention to her as well.

It is a little different here because part of my job is walking the floor and stopping at everyones desk.
